Offseason Wiz reports, tidbits and info.
Antonio Daniels and Jamison at Adidas Nations Experience in Dallas. Here. Each is mentoring a team in this multi-nation BBall camp (Jamison is working with the kids from Latin American countries).
The Jamison interview says very little (6:40-ish mark he mentions Wiz stuff, otherwise no).
First half of the Daniels' interview is pretty much all Wiz-related. Ends on a Gilbert note.

I never see the word wizards anywhere....what a miserable offseason. Lets just start the regular season and be done. What happened to all the money arenas saved us so we can sign a free agent. Ernie is killing me people

Because we know so many meaningful games are played in the offseason. Quick! Sign somebody! Anybody! It's so important to do it now, BEFORE good players get kicked off their teams and are available on the cheap! Quick! Hurry! Oh mi god! Or we'll lose the race to sign players that ends... erm... at the end of the season?
I'm trying really nice to be civil. But some of you guys are... are... NINNIES!!!!

Re: Offseason Wiz reports, tidbits and info.
Hm, isn't it also true that if you let half the season go by, and then sign someone, you can effectively give them the equivalent of a $3 million contract but only have it count $1.5 million against this year's luxury cap? I mean if you give him half a year's salary at $3 mill, does that get prorated or does the luxury tax just count actual dollars spent?

More video from AD/AJ at adidas nations.
Not much Wiz related. Antawn suggests teh Wiz are hungry, if healthy other teams will be scared to meet them, the Wiz ahve a chip on their shoulder and the team is eager for the year to start.

Caron Butler ran in a UConn alumni game (with Emeka Okafor, Rudy Gay, Donyell Marshall, Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, Kevin Ollie, Hilton Armstrong, Marcus Williams, Josh Boone and twenty others) at the Jim Calhoun foundation game at Mohegan Sun casino in CT. All were back to raise money for the foundation (heart disease research) and give support to their old coach as he battles cancer.

Butler A Motivator
Early in his rookie season, Gay got a pregame pep talk from Butler before the Grizzlies played the Wizards that was all love, advice and encouragement.
"He was telling me about how I can be effective in the league," Gay said.
When the game began, Butler ran right at Gay on three consecutive possessions and demanded the ball while yelling, "He's not ready! He's not ready!"
"I'm just trying to motivate him as much as possible and beat him up while I have the chance," Butler said.
Gay and Butler — who left after their sophomore seasons — have become good friends. With Butler in Washington and Gay being from Baltimore, they often work out and hit the town together.

Z I was feeling sorry for Ji with all of his threads getting locked.
Lets be 4 real, our coach EJ will grind our starters into the ground. That's his track record. Having more roll players can't be bad. If we are using the review mirror method looking back.
Lets be 4 real again, we have a playoff team now the goal is to advance. Getting into the 2nd round will pay for what little extra money we pay to sign a roll player(s) for going over the cap. You know this window of playoff runs will not last for ever. Why not try to acquire another 3pt man or roll playing D guy.
How many millions of dollars will the Wizards make if they advance to the 2nd round ? 3 or 4 more home games, more tickets, parking, food, clothes, TV deal. Can't you see how some owners justify playing the tax.
Abe can't take it with him.

Wizards antics (non-Gilbertology edition)
I figure it'd be nice to have a single thread for posts about random off-court silliness/drama/etc. that the Wizards get themselves into (other than Gilbert, since we already have a Gilbertology thread somewhere around here). Seems like this is a bit more focused than, say, the random thoughts thread. I expect a high percentage of Sports Bog links to pop up here. Now, the obligatory picks of McGee out on the town getting corrupted by Chief Clubber #1 Andray Blatche this season will have a home here in this thread.
I'll start things off by posting this disturbing time-waster of a YouTube clip of Deshawn doing his best Usher impersonation.

Re: Wizards antics (non-Gilbertology edition)
Already mentioned here (the offseason tidbits thread) and elsewhere.
There's really nothing happening (or being reported) out there. We're in the august 'dead zone' of Wiz news. Usually I'd bump the 'Insults' thread or 'Poetry' deally or what not. But they're dead, and it's hard to give a crap to re-kindle the magic. If there's ever a time to upload the long rumored Real GM 'Archives' it would be right now. Otherwise folks start to lose interest. We can't even get a good flamewar going up in here. Makes it hard to care. Without history, all mankinds efforts sum to nothing.
And again, we should never have let SD20 commit 'suicide-by-mod'. The best 'villain' we can muster now are handsy in a pissy mood, or Wiz'nasty and his bow-legged diatribes. Or internecine bloodletting and petty squabbles over the EJ question. Good old Gilbert2Kwame used to at least go out and recruit trolls when he got bored, draw them back here for a good skullthumping. BUt now, shoot, we couldn't even muster a militia to properly taunt them to death.
It's a shame, I'm actually developing other interests. Oh well.

While the mods decide what to do.
Andray's next in line for a baller birthday party, guest-hosted by video vixen Gloria Velez:

Why are these video vixens getting paid to "guest host" parties? I mean, wouldn't they just show up to an NBA party for free if they were invited?

Doc (and others)...
I recently made a thread on the mod board about the archived threads, asking when they'd be back. Hopefully, they'll give me an approximate time and I'll pass it along.
Here is the post...

miller31time wrote:Sorry if this has already been addressed and I missed it, but when are archived threads going to be returning to that "read-only" format, or whatever terminology was used? I remember Winterpeg saying something along the lines of the archived threads returning right after the draft but it's been a while since then and nothing has materialized.
I bring this up because I'm part of one of the few boards where there are a lot of veteran posters (from 2001 - 2002, etc) who really enjoy reminiscing with those threads and they aren't very happy that they can't see these threads during the dog days of NBA off-season.
One of our more eloquent posters, doclinkin, recently posted about this on the feedback and suggestions forum, but recieved no answer. Here was his post...doclinkin wrote:Summertime gets really boring and traffic drops off the map without the ability to pick old scabs and update long-running stories etc. There are about 5 steady posters on the Wziboard now -- whereas we used to be able to sustain a good argument for 20 to 90 pages before participants would get bored.
Now, no.
Any estimation on when this archive thing will go live?
Even before this most recent alteration we'd been told the long (100+ page) monsters would be able to be found 'some day'. Now though, we're hemorraging readership and its' really hard to sustain even my own interest, much less re-start a continuation of some of the more interesting threads from days past. Blogs have started to leach readers away (Wizards official site, Bulletsforever). I'd hate to see Realgm become a victim of its own success. It's gotten stale in our little corner of realgm. I landed here in the first place when the ESPN board underwent a format change and chased off a bunch of long-term authors. I'm starting not to care, again.
I think this sentiment is pretty much unanimous among the Wiz Board, and any information the admins have that I can pass on to them would be much appreciated.
Cross your fingers.

We hope to have it up as soon as possible but there is no timetable for that."

Yeah about what I expected. Pretty lame non-response. Thanks for the effort miller, that was a mod-quality action right there, looking out for your board's best interests. Shame it was wasted effort.
