All the info about the European games is out. I bet the press release about training camp comes out early this week. If they keep with what they've done the last few years training camp will be at VCU in Richmond the week of September 29, and will end with an open scrimmage the afternoon of Saturday October 4.

We'll see how close that is.

Hopefully I'll see the open scrimmage this year. Last year I had to go home.

From Hoopshype:

Linton Johnson, last seen with the Phoenix Suns, will be in training camp with the Washington Wizards.

Radio host Dave Johnson blogging heavily from Richmond.

Says Pech has been hitting the weights. Dominic slammed a putback in transition, Dee Brown is quick like a squeezed watermelon seed and EJ likes him. Emphasis is on Defense. KC Jones and Flip Saunders are guest Coaches (Flip is a zones master, good to have him in camp).

The most hopeful sign (from Ivan) the team has added a 'Rehabilitation specialist' to the training staff.

Sounds like someone's been into the Kool-Aid!

Are you mixing it with water first or just making lines out on the table and just snorting away?

I like to jump in a great big vat of it and wallow around. After putting on my jumpsuit and white Nikes of course. And marrying my five wives and arming the compound against them Federal agents. Shaving off all but my topknot eating Vegan and bothering people at Bus stations and Airports with my chanting: Wizzy wizzy wizzy wizzy.

How 'bout you? Whatchoo do to show your dedication? If Wiz/Bullet fans didn't have the offseason to recharge our optimism, shoot, mass sewerside is the only option. Follow the saints of optimism, aspire to be as Homertastic as these guys:

I am biologically incapable of optimism. :)

Besides, it is better to prove a pessimist wrong than an optimist.

Guest coaches

Jordan has a tradition of inviting former NBA coaches to help out during training camp, and this year former Detroit Pistons coach Flip Saunders and former Washington Bullets coach K.C. Jones joined the Wizards.

"I'm proud to have them here," Jordan said. "They're both very good defensively. Obviously K.C. is from one era and Flip has done some good things recently. They've been in our meetings, they've made suggestions on the court. We're happy to have them around. . . . Our team respects what they've done, they listen, they pay attention and that's a good thing."

Some stuff about Etan and Dee Brown in there, too.

It's Friday at 5.

Initially, I assumed it was going to be on a Saturday and was going to head down and hang out with you guys. No can do on Friday, though.

Are you gonna go?

^ Wow, that's disappointing. I've gone down a few times when it's been on Saturdays. It's pretty cool. Even got to meet Phil Chanier once.

That sucks. I might not be able to make that. I'm supposed to go to the State Fair with the family and some other families, I'm sure I would be conspicuous by my absence. You are still welcome to come to Richmond and get rolled in Sunday night ball by Blunt.

Well, hopefully you’ll at least get to see Pinky Tuscadero in the Demolition Derby at the Fair.

I can’t make it down there this Sunday to play but I'll definitely come down some other weekend. I’ve got to read up on your "dirty tactics" thread first though.

Who is gonna go? Any of my fellow posters in arms making the trip?

I'm planning to be there with my WILD 21 month old son... so, I'll be there but might not actually get to see more than a few minutes or so of action.

If you are planning to go, reply back... it would be fun to meet some of you all.

I'll be the tall, bald 40 something guy chasing around my 1 1/2 year old tow head... hope to run into some of you all there...

Mike 'Who?' Jones, Wash Times wrote:
One of the things Wizards coach Eddie Jordan and president Ernie Grunfeld repeatedly said they wanted to see this week was a highly competitive atmosphere, and the Wizards this week have produced just that throughout camp.

It's good, and almost comical, how deeply the players get into competing against one another whether it be relay races or scrimmages. All week long, DeShawn Stevenson has been arguing calls that don't go his way and waving his hand in front of his face when knocking down 3's. Today was no different. And he's not the only one. Antonio Daniels and Caron Butler also give the officials working the scrimmages a hard time for either calling them for fouls they disagree with or not making calls in their favor. Today Daniels was mildly mauled by JaVale McGee and Linton Johnson as he brought the ball across halfcourt. He turned the ball over and action went the other way. A.D. jawed with the ref all the way up the court before finally getting a call to go his way the next time on offense. Even after that call, however, he had something to say.
