Dude, it just a game. I wonder why we even keep score.

Keep the roster and coaching staff intact for next year's run, because really, we're totally better than Cleveland. If Arenas wasn't sick for game two and LeBron didn't get that BS whistle in game six, we absolutely could have taken the series. Just wait until we play them again next year, you'll see.

I don't even care if this team stays relatively injury free or not. If we can't go deep into the playoffs this year it's time for Eddie Jordan to go.

If we have another first round blunder, and Eddie doesn't get fired, I'll shoot myself and all of you can stand behind me. I say at worst this team can except is a toughly fought second round exit, were we were dogged by the refs...

If the team enters the playoff reasonably healthy, (i.e. with the Big Three plus Haywood playing at 90% or better) then we must make the second round. If we don't, then I would advocate firing EJ.

nate,

Not to be (too) funny, but I would advocate firing EJ NOW...Avery Johnson is still on the market (hint, hint...)

So, all the responses have so far been fire EJ. No one thinks that the team would need to be retooled?

Most of us advocate the Big Trade in 2009 Strategy whereby we trade the soon-to-be expiring contracts of AD and Etan, plus some combination of picks and prospects (Young, Pecherov, McGee) for a good-but-overpaid star who might become available. I'm thinking of guys like Joe Johnson, Vince Carter and Andrei Kirilenko. We can certainly hope that a Pau Gasol situation happens and we are the beneficiaries, but those kinds of deals require more luck than skill.

Short of that kind of deal, I don't see much retooling that would help us. Arenas and Jamison don't have much trade value given their expensive contracts. Likewise, Haywood and Blatche have extraordinarily cheap contracts for what they can bring to the table. It's unlikely we'd get fair value (contractwise) for them either. And Stevenson is worth more to us than to another team because of the way we're put together, so he won't be traded.

That leaves only Caron Butler. He's the one guy whose trade value is very high and might actually get us equivalent value in a trade. Of course, Butler is the heart and soul of the team and nobody wants to see him go, so that's probably not gonna happen either.

Basically, we're not trading any of our starters. We can look to trade youth and expirings for a star, but that's the only trade that I could envision that would help us.

Unfortunately, the odds of those 4 all being healthy in the post season... not real good. There's a better chance of a dozen federal bailouts of financial institutions by playoff time.

Methinks EJ is being set up to fail.

Fire EJ
Trade Jamison, Haywood, Blatche, Pecherov, Songaila, Daniels.

Keep Arenas
Butler
McGee
Young

Rebuild with that core

If its another first round exit...

Eddie Jordan will be back. Ernie Grunfeld will not make major changes. Jamison will never play defense. Butler will miss 20+ games a season. Arenas knees will never be the same. And the same brain washed, blindfolded fans will talk this team as if its the second coming of the 60's Celtics.

^^ I don't think you'll find many fans that think the Wizards are championship contenders with this roster even if they had Phil Jackson as their head coach.

I'm an advocate of trading Arenas NOW.

Sure it MIGHT bite us in the butt, but our team as currently constructed, isn't winning anything.

I say trade Gil and Jamison, and get what we can.

Suck this year, and add a lottery talent,

and rebuild from there.
