Caron's in shape. Glad to see he's taking a healthier approach.

Nick has been working on his ballhandling ability and his ability to move without the ball. He worked with Don McLean in the offseason.

Don McLean is certainly a guy who could help teach Nick to play off the ball. McLean was a great off-the-ball player. The guy would score 20 points a game while holding the ball for a grand total of about 30 seconds. He had one of the fastest shooting releases I've ever seen.

Let's just hope that Young isn't taking any defensive tips from McLean.

Every single player on the team can not believe JaVale’s athleticism. Comments like “he’s the most athletic big man I’ve ever seen.”. “I’ve never seen a big man move like that.” I’ve never seen a guy that tall jump that high.”

I'm starting to get a little excited about the long-term potential of McGee. I need to keep reminding myself that he's a soft, finesse big man who has no idea how to play defense. It's going to take a while, if ever.

The more I hear about how ripped Etan is, the more I think we'll land a good trade mid-year.

Give it up, the trade-kicker will scare-off any potential suitors.

Not necessarily. It makes his 09/10 expiring deal that much bigger. And a team with a need for an active burly Big with good character may be willing to pay the bill to dump an underproductive star.

Shoot, I could see an Etan for Ben Gordon swap right now, even on a one-year deal for the qualifying offer -- with the understanding that the Wiz' offense will make him look damn good and showcase him for the contract deal he really wants. The Wiz seem to do well with guards on bargain contracts.

Still, I look forward to having his muscle, even while we have so many players sharing the same spot.

Wow, I am shocked -- shocked!! -- that there's been no discussion of Jamison's comments re: AB. I should dig up the El Capitawn thread, but here it is for those that haven't read Ivan's comments on the subject:

One guy everyone was talking about (other than Gilbert Arenas of course) was Andray Blatche. Like many of you, Andray's teammates are counting on him to come through in a big way this season. When we chatted with Andray, he swore that he's "more mature" this year and hungry to break out and really tap into his potential.

When this was related to Antawn Jamison, he responded by shooting me with a look that effectively said "We'll see."

Jamison then talked about Andray: "He says he's a veteran. He says he's matured. He says he's ready for the task. He has to show us. I mean, like you guys, the excuses and hearing the same thing at the start of every season, it goes in one ear and out the other. It's time to show it."

Me: "Does Andray realize how talented he is, how good he could be?"

Jamison: "He realizes it. He always realizes it. I think with Andray, the thing he's realizing now is that we need him now more than ever. We need him to be consistent. We need him to take some of my minutes. And we need to be comfortable with him out there. We don't want to put him out there just because we have to. We want to put him out there because we depend on him and he can benefit us. We need Andray this year more than we need anybody. We need him to bring energy night in and night out. And I'm not talking about four out of five games. Every night. There's no reason Andray shouldn't be averaging 14, 15 points game."

My appreciation for Jamison is growing. I had goosebumps when my brother read this to me over the phone. I've said it for three years -- Dray is the key to how good this team is. This year will be big.

It's about time the Wiz got fined for being tight lipped.

It is about time I think for the team to change its name to something else and also get rid of those ugly ass uniforms. Get rid of the stupid mascot too. My city's NBA basketball team has become one big joke.
Lets build a new arena too.

I have to say, it was really strange reading those quotes from Brendan and Antawn -- especially Jamison's....

Fellow All-Star Antawn Jamison appeared worried as well.

"One thing I'm expecting to happen is that when he comes back, we're going to see Gilbert this year, but we probably won't see Agent Zero until the end of the season," Jamison said, "or maybe towards next year."

So essentially, he's saying the we might not see Gilbert at 100% until next season. Now, I don't know what, if anything, Jamison is privy to, but that quote doesn't exactly settle well with me.

I'm down with that. Finally somebody with some sense. :D :D :D :D :D

Bring back Robin Ficker too.

This previous decade at the MCI/VERIZON/INSERT CORPORATE NAME HERE CENTER has rarely been worth the price of admission as far as the home team is concerned.

Watching reruns of old games from the CAPITAL CENTRE days is more enjoyable and more exciting.
