The Wizards' regular season starts on Wednesday Oct. 29th against the New Jersey Nets at 7pm. I couldn't find the game thread so I started one. Mods later can make this one or create an official game thread. I think Wizards will win this game. Nets starting center is rookie Brook Lopez so Eddie Jordan might play JaVale McGee against him, so that's going to be interesting. Discuss...

well we lost because you didn't use our legendary tried adn true totally sexy awesome game thread template. Good things the nets suck

It was only pre-season, but the Nets put up some points in every game. Against a poor defensive team with EJF as coach, how can you not pick the Nets?

Not only that, but they will have a clear edge in size and athleticism. Devin Harris will eat us alive and if EJ counters with Dee Brown it'll hurt our offense. Lopez, Boone, and Williams will control the paint and make Etan and Songaila look like they're standing still. They can go really big with Yi at SF and feel fairly certain that EJ will respond by going small.

And I haven't even brought up Vince Carter...

We take this one, probably in a blowout. I mean, come on, we're the Wizards - the only way for the inevitable crash down to mediocrity to truly be painful is if we've had our spirits lifted a bit first.

How true Actually, I do believe we will take this one easily but will get blown out by Detroit on Saturday to send everyone reeling again.

...but yeah I see us winning this one, I actually see us getting off to a better start then everyone thinks this season, just a feeling I have.

As for the game, itself, I see the Wizards winning if for no other reason than some home cooking.

I, too, see Harris and Carter going crazy on us and, of course, the Nets getting plenty of open 3's but Butler and AJ should each have some big games.

I see this same kind of outcome.

Get behind early and won't have enough offense to win in the end.

In addition to those three NJ players getting theirs, I think Chris Douglas Roberts or Bobby Simmons could also have big games. Either the basket won't be protected and Roberts with get to the rim, or the perimeter won't be guarded and Simmons will do damage from the three point line.

I think the Wizards will lose to NJ.

Yeah, it's weird. I've been a Wizards fan for around 10 years and this is the only season where, though I'm happy it's the season-opener tomorrow, I just don't feel that excited for it.

It's like, yeah, I'd much rather it be the season opener tomorrow than not, but I'm just not pumped.
