Ivan Carter answered my question...Post Wizards Chat

"Maryland: Ivan, why aren't Nick Young and Javale playing 35 mpg? I'd rather watch them grow then seeing Etan and Stevenson turn the ball over, shoot bricks, and never pass the ball.
Ivan Carter: We are headed in that direction, believe me"

He answered another one:
"Maryland: Why are the Bobcats dangling Wizard-Killer Gerald Wallace out there? If they want a PF, I'd trade Jamison for Wallace in an instant (they make the same salary). Sure Wallace is undersized, but so is Jamison.
Ivan Carter: Wallace plays the same position as Caron Butler no? How would removing a 20-10 guy help this team in the short or long term? "
I think Wallace is a better PF than Jamison is anyways.

The usual defense for Jamison. "He's a 20/10 guy". So is Zach Randolph.
20/10 is a nice statline, but if you do it inefficiently, and you can't guard your own shadow, then it's nothing more than a statline.

Virginia: Any truth to the rumors of Hughes heading back to D.C. in a trade using AD, Etan or maybe Songs?
Ivan Carter: I know that discussions were held between the teams over the summer but nothing came of it. Hughes is owed big money and he's always injured. Is that really what this team needs right now?
That was me. I was hoping for some inside info lol, guess not.

Re: Ivan Carter answered my question...Post Wizards Chat
I got another three answered! Did anyone else post questions today?
"Maryland: Despite the losses this year, shouldn't Brendan Haywood feel a little vindicated? He's always wanted more minutes. He's always been the best defender and center on the team. Jordan responded by playing Ruffin, Songaila, and Etan over him during the past five years.
Ivan Carter: Trust me, he feels very vindicated"
"Maryland: Ivan, Will Eddie Jordan ever learn to play his best players? He continues to prefer playing small-ball. Etan Thomas doesn't deserve to be on the court. Songaila has a grand total of five rebounds this year. Javale only played 22 minutes against Atlanta. He should be playing a minimum of 30 minutes a game. I'd rather watch him develop than see Etan continue his horrid play.
Ivan Carter: Again, you will see McGee and the other young fellas on the court more and more. It's obvious. "
"Bowie, Md.: Shouldn't the Wizards trade Jamison? He's making a reasonable salary of around $9 million this year, before the increases hit. If a contender offers a contract that expires at the same time as Etan and Daniels, shouldn't the Wizards bite, especially if they can include Songaila or Stevenson (contracts that expire a year after Etan and Daniels)?
Ivan Carter: Depends on who you get back in such a deal. Remember, if Arenas and Haywood come back healthy and McGee keeps coming along, this team could be pretty good this season or next. "

Interesting. It would seem as if they'd talked about it.

Ivan wouldn't trade Jamison for Okafor? WTF? I'd do that every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

The local news media are in love with Jamison. They like the fact that he's a good interview and a nice guy, and they don't want to ruin that relationship. Seriously, the amount of man-love for Jamison by this organization has me in disbelieve.

Absolutely. Wallace can play PF in the Shawn Marion mold. Or move Butler to SG. You make that trade and then figure out how to play them together, because I have little doubt that they can. I'm sure he's a good guy who'd be fun to watch games with, but Ivan's comments sound like they're from someone who really has no clue in understanding what the Zards should do.

Ivan's probably a nice guy. But he really comes across as a homer who only knows what the players of the club tells him is the official line. I would love to see some independent thinking from him, considering he's about the only source of Wiz news in the Post.

He made a point about Okafor, i mean, 20 and 10 vs. 10 and 10. And Okafor has injuries questions, all the way back to college. Also Jamison is not like the worst defender in the league, he is below average but come on. He has contributed to this team and helped them in the past, Okafor has not done anything special in this league.

Okafor is ten times the defender Jamison is, and he's also 6 years younger. And he's not a 10 and 10 guy. He's a 14 and 11 guy who posts his numbers in 33 minutes (versus Jamison's 37). If you extrapolate Okafor's numbers over 37 minutes, he'd average 15.5 points and 12 boards on 53% shooting. I'd take that over Jamison's 21 and 10 on 48% shooting (eFG%) and porous D. And Jamison won't be averaging 10 rebounds ever again either.

Okafor should be a PF, not a C. Aside from having a chronically bad back, Okafor leads the league in BA (blocks against). He's not a scorer.
I'd tade him for Jamison, but I'd want a scorer included in the deal to replace some of Jamison's scoring.

Re: Ivan Carter answered my question...Post Wizards Chat
Ivan is a nice guy and all, but he seems to be one of those writers who's just happy to be in the position he's in and not really develop himself into a top tier journalist.
In recent months, we kept hearing rumors of a possible trade between Washington and Chicago involving Hughes.
Why didn't Carter write an article about that? He just said it in passing in a chat as if it was not really important. Well it is, we as readers and followers of the Wizards team want to know what the hell is going on with the franchise. And don't give me "Ernie runs a tight ship." Word leaks out eventually. It just seems like all the breaking news and/or rumors we get about the Wizards, we find from either the Times or somewhere else. Carter's constantly getting burned on the scoops.
Not saying he's doing a bad job, he's doing a decent job, but he's just not doing enough.

Good stuff Nate. Yeah, Ivan is really limited in his thinking. Frankly, talking trades with Ivan is like repeatedly banging your head against a brick wall. You just come out of it feeling dumber.
Ivan should stick to reporting the facts, when he starts adding his opinion in there, he really sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about.

Oh, yeah. You mean that guy that never plays because he's always hurt.
Yep. He can score.
So, Arenas, Stevenson/Young, Butler, Okafor, McGee is your lineup with an AJ trade
Yes, it looks better to me.

Okafor looks like he's regressing a bit statistically this season. He's only averaging 9 ppg and 9 rpg in 33 minters per game this season. I wonder if that has to with Larry Brown or the fact he's not the physical specimen he was when he came out of college.
