More to come. I just wanted to get this party started.
Pistons at Wizards
7:00 PM ET, March 28, 2009
Verizon Center, Washington D.C.
Over 16 months have passed since Gilbert Arenas was last in the starting lineup for the Washington Wizards. With a playoff spot on the line, the Detroit Pistons can't wait much longer for their trio of stars to return.
The struggling Pistons have to contend with Arenas' season debut, but hope to have Richard Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace back when they face the Wizards on Saturday night.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/preview?gameId=290328027Detroit needs a win. They are a vet team. They know they are coming into a buz saw. This will be way worse then playing us at home with the president present. If Detroit is smart they will just bend like the tree and trying to survive the open to this game and hope our adrenaline burns us out.
I see some fireworks for the open of this one.
So what about CB ? Is he a go ?
Like it or not. Gilbert is back to end the season. Lots to see. Lots to evaluate. This season may have really sucked for some but the worst is way behind us. The future is now. Add Gil instantly changes this team.
Welcome back Gil.

Welcome Back, GilMy favorite Gil mix has since been retired (like Gil's blog) from YouTube.
The one I linked to above is pretty good.
There's a clip right at 4:20 (to get the full effect watch from about 3:57 -- the Utah game winner) that I've never seen before and to me it really epitomizes who Gil is -- dude is just freakin awesome as a player and a person. I was actually at that Utah game on MLK day in my company seats (on the floor behind the Wiz bench) and didn't see the jersey exchange live. Man, that was a special moment.

I still wish that Tap would start Dom at the 2 and Caron at the 3 instead of the other way around. That seems obvious to me and it hurts us so much the way Tap does it. Hopefully he makes the switch with Gil back

I thought we had already made this adjustment by switch them on offense and defense. Not sure there is a big different here except for who is guarding who on defense. Both play a role in passing and setting up players on offense only CB is a way better shooter.
With Gils added fire power from the outside, I think CB will play more the SF role with DMAC playing Jefferies old role.

After seeing Dat's post, I was going to say - I'd like to see JWiz top that.
Well, it's a tie.

Well, he cheated. He used pics I've already posted. There's only one peddler of pimpness around these boards.

I honestly dont think that we have made the switch. On D they do guard the right spots but on O Dom has still been the 3 while Caron is the 2. I think thats why Caron has been so average. To me its a huge difference because Caron was a dominant player on the wing. He would catch the ball on the logo and make play after play. Now if you watch us he catches the ball behind the 3pt line on the majority of the plays. Thats a huge difference. He's not that kind of player. He doesnt have the consistent handles to blow by guys and his J is good but not a great 3pt J. They put smaller quicker guys on him because they know he doesnt touch the ball on the wing anymore. The player will crowd him and he usually just settles for a contested J. When he does rarely put it on the floor it always looks forced and he still has to settle for a contested J or turns it over. Alot of times he actually catches the ball in the middle of the floor behind the arch. He never does that at the 3. He's got maybe the best mid range game in the league but now he's always outside and having to try to do something.
I think they obviously made that move because they figured Dom didnt have that kind of range but if Caron is your best guy with an injuried Gil out then you have to do whats best for him because thats what gives you your best chance to win. If you watch Dom, it doesnt really matter if he plays the 2 or the 3 but its night & day for Caron. Dom will pretty much play the same way no matter what and if anything, he's actually shown that he's better at the 2 then the 3 because he can handle the rock and make assist

I note in the wiretap that DET, desperate to stay in the playoffs (and maybe
not necessarily fearing CLE, wouldn't that be sweet, #8 DET knocking out
the Traveliers, but I digress) that DET is re-loading their roster so we may actually
see 2 pretty strong teams tonight.
Who's going?
Anyone for pre-game brews?
we can discuss which pix we like best - oh my.

I just watched video on yahoo on Arenas' return and Kenny Smith said Arenas' days of being a top 2-3 at his position in the NBA is over. What do you guys think? I hope Arenas watches this video, it would be a great motivation for him. He's obviously going to be rusty this season but if he can stay healthy, get his confidence back, have a good summer workout, I think he can be the same player, still an All-Star in this league. Damn I miss the days when Arenas used to school teams single handedly.

I don't want to ruin the party, but do we have to include all those pictures in the game thread file? I was trying to scroll down this tread and my mother in law walked past me and I looked like a total d-bag. I don't mind soft-porn on at this site, but can we label the thread a little better to save us from embarrassing moments like the one I had, or at work, or in front of our kids?

Kenny Smith is one of the biggest losers in the NBA who has had to ride the coat tails of hall of fame players his entire career, both on the court and in the studio. He get's no credit, no pub so I'm not surprised to try and knock down someone who is infinitely superior than himself. Everything he says should be taken with a grain of salt because he's just a bitter old man.

Can't wait. Been way too long since we've seen him play. Drop some knowledge on the haters, Arenas. Lets see you drop 3's from all over the court.
