Wake loses Teague and Johnson, UNC loses everyone, Duke will be good but not as dominant as this past season without Henderson. Fl St. lost MVP Toney Douglas. We should be in the running for an ACC title next season methinks.

Mark MD down in pen for the top 25. Duke will have to be the favorite in the ACC, and just watch how quickly UNC reloads. The way they recruit is amazing. Wake still has Aminu and 2 or 3 good 7 footers, so don't feel too bad for them.

Welcome back Grevis! Work on your game and body so hard that they have to consider you a first rounder.

Here's hoping that Paggett and Williams pan out. If they do, this team could be legit.

Maryland has stopped recruiting "Born Ready" per the Baltimore Sun - at least for the time being:
Lance Stephenson, a McDonald's All-American who is one of the top unsigned basketball prospects in the nation, is no longer being recruited by Maryland, according to two sources with knowledge of the school's efforts.

Stephenson, a 6-foot-5 swingman from Brooklyn, N.Y., whose off-the-court issues have caused Maryland and other colleges concern, has not been pursued by the Terrapins program for several weeks. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of discussing recruits.

...

But officials at Maryland are wary of the recruit in part because of an Internet reality series called Born Ready that says its aim is to follow "the life and pursuit of basketball glory by high school phenom Lance Stephenson." Some schools worry the NCAA may question an athlete's involvement with such a site.

...

Asked whether schools were cautious about recruiting Stephenson, Morton replied: "I don't know if schools have backed off." He said he had no doubt that Stephenson would still have a major impact on a college program next season.

Maryland officials declined to comment.

Van Coleman, national recruiting analyst for Hoopmasters.com, said Stephenson's ability "to come in and impact a college team is similar to what we've seen in the [high profile recruiting of Tyreke] Evans and Michael Beasleys. Would you want him for basketball? Of course."

Added Coleman: "I know Gary [Williams] would love to have him as a player. But he has to wonder if it would cost the program."

welcome back greivis!!! take terps to a 36-39 game season and watch your number go up in the rafters...what could be better?

re: acc - unc has ed davis and ginyard and will compete for the conf title. duke looks like the favorites with nolan smith, williams and singler. clemson is looking tough with jennings and booker brothers. gtech has a top 5 incoming class (favors) and lawal and shumpert back, but are coached by hewitt. i'd put maryland in the mix with these 4 teams.

I think Stephenson wants to go to Maryland and still might end up there.

His HS teammate will be a Terp. Vasquez is coming back. The ACC is very high profile. Terps would make the NCAAs almost for sure, with him being a focal point.

As long as no recruiting violations occur, I'm still hopeful for "Born Ready".

(Per something I read, his off-court issue is a sex assualt case for allegedly groping a female.)

You're right. He could still end up in Maryland - if he's cleared from the sexual assault case. But that narcissistic website might be the last straw - especially if it's for profit. I want to win, but this kid really rubs me the wrong way. He makes it a lot easier to root against him than for him.

That's too bad the Wiz could have drafted him in the 2nd round and then he could have competed for the starting job at the two.

"Well, when the NBA scouts started laughing hysterically at my idea that I could be a first-round pick this year, I thought, "Gosh, Greivis, maybe you really should[i] go back to school."

Hehe, yeah I thought he might play overseas, because it was reported that his father has an illness that could be expensive to take care of, but staying another year at MD to show he's improved his jump shot and worked on his body should do quite a lot for his career.

ESPN.com has Maryland ranked #17 for next season. Not too shabby considering that a lot of folks were writing off the Gary Williams era not long ago. 2 ACC teams are ranked higher, and if it takes you more than 1 guess to figure them out...

Why would we want to trade the guy that wins with lesser talent for the second coming of Lefty Driesell?
