Amare Trade Rumor now like a Ji snowstorm forecast--Bust!

Mullens said he'll be working out for the Bucks on Friday.
* Contrary to an internet report, the Bucks' aren't prepared to use their top pick on Wake forest point guard Jeff Teague.
* Former Bucks GM Ernie Grunfeld isn't afraid to pull the trade trigger, and that's why rumors about him dealing the Washington Wizards' No. 5 pick are gaining more credence.
I'm hearing a deal, which would revolve around Phoenix's Amar'e Stoudemire and the wizards' top pick, has a decent chance of going down.
* At least one well-informed NBA informant insists that Lakers coach Phil Jackson will hang up the clipboard this summer and his successor could be Duke's Mike Krzyzewski -- especially if his highly-influential agent (Kobe Bryant) puts the heat on Lakers management.
* I know Bucks officials like UCLA guard Jrue Holiday, but does owner Herb Kohl and his cronies really want to deal with his agent, Dan Fegan -- especially after the latter pulled all those shenanigans on them before the draft two years ago while representing Yi Jianlian?
Fegan, by the way, also represents Louisville forward Earl Clark, who has also drawn interest from the Bucks.
* The Raptors' pick could have a major impact the Bucks' pick.
I've been told the Raptors want to secure a wing player via the draft and their primary candidates are Southern Cal shooting guard-small forward DeMar DeRozan, shooting guard Gerald Henderson of Duke, small forward James Johnson of Wake Forest and Clark.
If the Raptors pass on DeRozan, the Bucks brass could have one interesting decision on their hands.
* Bodog.com gives the Bucks a 100/1 chance of winning the 2010 NBA championship. Eight other teams are given the same long-shot odds. Only Minnesota (125/1) and Memphis (150/1) have worse odds than the Bucks.
The Lakers are 9/4 favorites to repeat as champions, with Cleveland next at 3/1.
* The Bucks will play their first NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas against the Dallas Mavericks on July 10, starting at 7 p.m.
The Bucks will also play Cleveland, Sacramento, Chicago and Toronto in games that will be held once again at Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavillion.

Re: Amare Trade Rumor still alive and well
I don't buy it. Amare can't even work out yet because his eye is such a mess. Apparantly he has to lie down for hours a day to let it "drain" (sounds delicious). I just can't imagine Ernie pulling the trigger on a deal until Amare was given a clean bill of health.
However, this rumor would make that Jamison to Cleveland trade more reasonable.
Rico/mhd, show me a 3-way that works for everyone, assuming Cleveland prefers Jamison to Shaq (dubious if you ask me)

I've always thought the Spurs were a perfect fit for Jamison. Perhaps a 3-way where we send Jamison to SAS, SAS sends Kurt Thomas+Bowen (both expiring) to Suns (where we also trade #5, James (expiring), and Blatche), and we get Amare.

Jamison to Cleveland? No way. Even I draw the line somewhere.

I'm actually intrigued by Detroit apparently going after Gordon. I'd deal Jamison for Hamilton, and assuming we can deal #5+Blatche+James+Etan for Amare, we'd have this:
Haywood/McGee
Stoudamire/Songaila
Butler/McGuire
Hamilton/Young
Arenas/Critt
Maybe we can deal Pesh+33 for Steve Blake to shore up our backup PG spot as well.
Re: Amare's eye - Yes, his body does have to "resorb" the fluid that built up in his eye. But he's not on bed rest anymore and has even been cleared to leave his house. He can't do any running/jumping yet but his vision is reportedly close to 20/20 with eyewear. The doctors and Suns both expect him back for training camp. So I'm fine with making the deal.

The foundation of the deal would be:
Jamison to Cleveland
Wallace + #5 to Phoenix
Amare to Washington.
Modest filler can be added here and there to make all sides happy. Perhaps Blatche goes to Phoenix and Mike James goes to Cleveland.

Yeah I read that his vision is currently at 20/25 with eyewear, so that's not bad. Hopefully it's something that won't linger. He's gotta be like James Worthy and wear shades for the rest of his career.

A little scary trading for someone with serious eye condition and who is FA for 2010 but I dont think Ernie will trade the 5th pick unless he makes a big splash. I dont think he will trade the 5th pick for an aging veteran shooting guard so if a trade is made..its going to be a blockbuster(Amare,Jamison, etc). Otherwise, we keep the pick IMO

If the trade goes down, I hope we get Phx # 14 pick, there will still be plenty of good picks available at 14.

Doesnt matter what happens now, Ji sealed the fate with this damn thread. We either dont get Amare, or we get him but his eye causes him to never be the same player.
THANKS JI, you'll never learn.

Actually I'm pretty sure Ji enjoys playing the jinx role. In some sick distorted way it validates him as being relevant as opposed to those worthless weather threads. Ji is apparently more than willing to watch failure come from his words b/c that's the only time anyone pays him any attention.
That's why you'll see Ji rush to start all sorts of threads. He'll happily invite failure if its gets him noticed.
If the mods here had any balls (ahem, Mr. Snitch), they'd immediately delete any thread he starts.
If we trade for Amare, I'd expect him to lose an eyeball when someone from our fabeled medical staff accidently pokes him in eye while fitting him for some new goggles.

Amare is the Gilbert of PF's...Incredible potential defensively, yet in all reality, a horrible defender.

And your point is? Remember, both of them played for coaches who only cared about offense (D'Antoni and Jordan). Now that the Wiz have Flip Saunders, whose teams have typically been above average defensively, he can certainly get them to be average or slightly below. And with the firepower we'd have that's really all we'd need.

Agreed, Lyrical. When it comes to players with defensive potential, all it takes is the motivation and teaching from someone who knows what he's talking about. In this case, Flip Saunders.
I just hope Flip actually does know what he's talking about and wasn't simply the beneficiary of a few teams with great defensive players (Billups, B.Wallace, R.Wallace, Prince, Garnett, etc).

He got poke in the eye. As long as he wears goggles, there shouldn't be any problems.
Washington should make this deal ASAP before someone acquires him.

I agree wholeheartedly BUT I will say that Amere is much worse.
Amare appears to try but still is probably a bottom 10 defender in the league while Arenas just doesn't give a ****. I still remember that playoff series against the Bulls when Arenas was locking people down...where the hell did that go? But I'm sure flip Saunders will get everybody playing defense.
Even with all of that said, I pray that this trade goes down. Amare is prob a top 10 player in the league and he's younger than Jamison. Pull the trigger Ernie!

From the Blecher Report:
More and more sources are starting to hear the same thing revolving around the Wizards and Suns possible deal.
The trade would have the Wizards select Jordan Hill for the Suns, then later in the night trade the rights to Hill, along with a few role players to Phoenix for Amare Stoudemire. Amare has said he loves the city of Washington D.C, and fans of the Wizards reportedly are more excited about a possible deal bringing in Stat than any draft pick they take.

Amare has had his own "I still remember..." defensive moments as well though, like in the 2005 playoffs when he played Duncan well defensively, blocking his shot in Game 4 (or was it 5...?) to seal the game.
(not to mention offensively he put up 41, 37, 34, 31, 42 that series against Duncan....

I think he has it in him, it just would take coaxing same as Arenas. There's no reason he should only be averaging 9 rebounds a game though, as many shots as are taken in a high pace Suns game. That almost worries me as much as anything else.
That said I still think we should do the deal. Best case scenario he comes back strong and puts us over the top, worst case scenario he's a one year rental that doesn't pan out and we're still rid of Jamison's contract (God bless him, I'm not in the "Jamison is garbage" camp that set up shop with a vengeance around here recently). We know what we have now and its not good enough. Roll the dice, EG.

It would probably be Blatche+Etan James (expirings)+Hill for Amare.
Then we could try and trade Jamison for more depth.

Thing is, if rumors are right, we're sending the pick + role players (blatche, thomas, james, stevenson....). That means, Jamison at the 3 spot? or will he go to the bench?
I'd love to see a big lineup of:
Arenas
Butler
Jamison
Stoudamire
Haywood
Cap wise, can we keep everyone of those guys? or we got to let either Caron or AJ go?
