Wilson Chandler for are pick

Post#1 » by truwizfan4evr » Sun Jun 21, 2009 12:31 am

The Knicks are after Stephen Curry and Jordan Hill, and are looking to acquire the fifth overall pick.

New York is reportedly offering Washington forward Wilson Chandler for the pick.

They don't feel as though they'll be able to get Hill or Curry with their section, eighth overall.

According to the report, on NBADraft.net, the Knicks could offer their pick in the deal or attempt to hold onto it.

so what yall think of this deal for wizkids.?

ill just chime in as a knick fan.. will be very very very very very x100 upset if the knicks did this deal..

butler/chandler at the 2/3 would also be a nightmare defensively to other teams once chandler comes into his own

#5 >>>>>>>> Chandler

It would have to be #5+filler for Chandler+#8 but that's definitely not my first choice of offseason moves.

I don't think this is true--I don't think the Knicks would offer Chandler for pick 2. And asking Washington fans who dont watch Chandler on a day to day basis to have any idea of what this kid will be. He's a going to be a better player than Josh Howard[already comparable] his contract is 1mm+ a year + the biggest one--hes 7 years younger. He's also 3 inches taller

Lyrical didn't stutter. We have our version of Wilson Chandler in Dom McGuire so let's not make Chandler out to be Scottie Pippen or something.

Um no. Let's not be homers here. Chandler is a much better player than DMac. Until DMac can show even a smidgen of an offensive game, Chandler has the edge.

15 and 5, with great defense, in his second year in the league at age 22 is pretty damn good. No way would the Knicks trade 8 and Wilson for number 5, get a clue.

McGuire puts up more blocks, rebounds, assists, and steals on a per minute basis, along with fewer turnovers and fouls. They're both solid defenders. Wilson certainly scores more, but he takes 2.5x as many shots. And considering his percentages, I don't know that his team wouldn't be better served by him pulling a McGuire on offense.

I'm not definitively saying Wilson is worse or McGuire is better, but it's not like it's a crazy thing to say.

It seems as if Wizards fans and Knicks fans are at an agreement - this trade won't happen. Wizards fans don't want Chandler and Knicks fans don't want to trade him.

Problem solved. Crisis averted. Discussion ended. Horray!

Nope, Chandler is better than DMac. However, I'd take Dmac every day of the week and twice on Sundays. The 5th pick is however >>>>>> Chandler. Either way, Walsh obviously didn't get the memo that we are looking for VETERAN help. Chandler...and quite frankly nobody on the Knicks qualify. Let's talk David Lee for me to be remotely interested.

I didn't say that Chandler isn't better than DMac, but he's sure as heck not worth the 5th pick better. He puts up points, but not in an efficient manner. Plus I imagine that the Knicks pace skews Chandler's ppg somewhat. He's a good prospect who likely wouldn't get very many minutes with the Wizards anyway with Butler ahead of him. So, I agree that the Knicks and Wizards aren't good trading partners in this instance.

First of all, I take the offensive numbers of anybody who plays for D'Antoni with a grain of salt, especially when you consider that Chandler isn't all that efficient of a scorer. Second, we wouldn't be getting the "15 and 5" guy because Chandler would either be a backup or playing out of position because we already have Caron Butler as our All Star SF. Chandler would be a role player in our rotation and we don't need to trade a top 5 pick for a role player.

That's kinda selling Chandler low, since Nate will be gone Chandler becomes our number #2 option so he should see a considerable bump in statistical production next year. Chandler plays on both ends of the floor and he will be better than prime Jordan Hill and Stephen Curry, why the hell would New York do that for either of those guys? Only way I see this happening is if Rubio is there at #5. Ofcourse Washington wouldn't make that deal so the Knicks would have to throw in #8 to make it fair.

I would hesitate to accept 8th + Chandler for 5th, yet alone Chandler himself. Chandler's numbers are inflated in D'antoni's system and I think his defense is highly overrated. I'd take Mcguire over Chandler, he brings many more things to the table and will probably cost 2-3x less in their next contracts. Especially since we can get much more at 5, either trading it elsewhere or picking someone (Harden or Evans).

yeah i would take chandler and the 8th in a heartbeat. Then get our lost post threat with great hands agility and strength in Mullens. Our window for a championship immediately extend to five plus years. I think we wait until draft night though. If Evans is gone and we are under command to get a sg, then we make the swap.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

I hope you're kidding. Mullens is pretty bad. He'll be out of the league after his rookie contract ends. The guy couldn't play at Ohio St. No clue why he entered the draft. He's raw but that doesn't mean he has potential.

2 posts already in here claiming d'antonis system inflating numbers, yet you people fail to realize the knicks didnt even run the system correctly at all.. in fact they did the most fastbreaking/uptempo play in the first couple games (when they had jamal) of the season than they did all season long.. and how do you expect a team who made 4 big trades throughout the season to run an offense correctly?

so wilsons numbers are inflated yet lee and duhons werent? considering their numbers per 36 prior to d'antoni and post d'antoni are pretty much the same?

i just love how people on here who have never watched a team consistently, yet see a couple posters mention something about that team, and then they start saying it as if they arent completely clueless.. ill prove you wrong real quick even though wilson chandler will not be dealt, least not in the next couple years

anyway, from one of my others posts to someone like you making false claims:

lee last year in 35mpg: 16ppg/11.7rpg 55% fg
lee his SOPHOMORE YEAR PER 36: 13ppg/12.5rpg 60% fg (orig. 30mpg 11ppg/10.5rpg)
lee his 3rd year, playing next to zach randolph PER 36: 13.4ppg/11rpg 55%fg (orig 29mpg 11ppg/9rpg)

those 2 bottom years, the offense was completely stagnant and he played less mpg, had no midrange j, nor a pass first pg.. his rebounds per 36 even dipped since his SECOND nba season

duhons per 36 in chi-town and as a knick are as identical as they can get:

Image

again, this system myth has got to go to bed.. over the next few years, when they actually learn the system and play uptempo, stats will inflate, but clearly as i provided with evidence and also from watching games, no "system" was run successfully last season in ny and stats increases are a direct result of MORE mpg and improvement

Chandler had a 12.4 PER

An upgrade from his 11 PER the year before.

He played alright - but lets not get carried away.
