Once drafted, how long is a player in a team's posession? Say Rubio won't play for the Wolves. Does he re-enter the draft at some point? Do the Wolves get another compensatory pick?

Nope. The NBA is nothing like MLB with compensatory picks when they can't sign their draft picks. In the NBA, rights are kept forever and can be traded. So Rubio's gateway to the NBA is completely in the hands of Minnesota at this moment ... much like Navarro was with us until we traded his rights to Memphis.

Although it sounds like if he doesn't play in a professional league for a year - or maybe FIBA recognized leagues; enter Zimbabwe? - he can declare for the draft again.

They are calling that the 'Nuclear Option' on the Wolves board. If he goes that route, I dare say his endorsement opportunities in 'Sota would be limited thereafter.

I agree with what I have seen indicating that it would be an incredibly foolish option.
