Is A.I. going to retire?

There has not been much rumor about Iverson. He says that if he cannot start for a team he may retire. I know I am going to be hit hard for saying this, but how about EG sign Iverson for the Vet minimum to start for us. That still leaves trading Stevenson/Crint/James and our MLE money for a big man.

All these rumors about Marbury. What about this:

Arenas/Iverson/Foye
Iverson/Foye/Arenas/Young
Butler/Miller/Dmac/Young
Jamison/Blatche/McGee
Haywood/McGee/Blatche

and then add a Big Man.

I just think I would def do this deal if Iverson would be willing to take the Vet Min and start. Why wouldnt he.

Then we have Iverson in the Starting lineup for his D and his offense, as for our big 3's offense. Haywood for Defense. Jamison and Wood rebound about 10 a game. Iverson gets about 6 rebs a game.

2nd Unit

Foye
Young
Miller
Blatche
McGee.

IF I was EG that would be my move. Not Marbury. I bet you guys 100% he would sign for the starting 2 guard.

What do you guys think???

Iverson is the most overrated player in NBA history. In 12 seasons as "the man", he's past the 2nd round of the playoffs just once; and he's had numerous losing seasons.

You can't win with Iverson because he's not good enough to carry a team and he's never figured out how to compliment a team.

 I don't know about most overrated ever, but he's up there for sure, and he is a team-cancer at this point. If he had the maturity to accept where he is in his career (a back-up off the bench), he could be a very-good back-up PG playing in limited minutes for some team.

He's not the most overrated person in history ..I'd say Nash is more over hyped (2 MVPS!?!!?!?!) but AI is definitely up there.

But the thread starter is crazy for wanting either (AI or Marbury) of those bums.

Whoever says they wouldn't want Iverson playing behind Arenas is a fooking bare faced liar.

Iverson the Gunner did a nice job up in Detroit, they asked him to come off the bench and he took the rest of year off.

HE"S a PUNK!

There's a reason nobody is talking about Iverson, and it has nothing to do with the fact that his past achievements were overrated.

He was TERRIBLE last year. Even worse than his stats indicated.

Its not about whether he was overrated then. Even if that were the case, he'd still be worth the MLE or part of it to SOMEONE if he had any of what he once had left.

He was always a defensive liability, but he's lost his quickness and his ability to finish around the basket, and his jumper was worse too. Despite of that, it might have been worth it to roll the dice on him for some team somewhere if he hadn't proven he'd create problems if asked to take a lesser role.

I wouldn't recommend him to ANY team. Perhaps some team that is either not in the "know" about what was up with him last year or is just willing to see if last year was a fluke will roll the dice on him.

But I could see the offseason passing without a job for him if teams know whats up.

I think there is a good chance he will not start the season on a team.

What happens during the season depends on if he keeps his game sharp. If he is ready to fill in, some team with an injury may pick him up.

He should. Noone wants him cause he's a defensive liability, and most of all, his ego/character are team killers.

I'm just going to throw this out there: Allen Iverson is one of most properly rated players in history. Everyone understands perfectly both his immense talents and great flaws.

Jamison is the most overrated player in this franchise's history. In 10 NBA seasons as "the man or a 2nd/3rd option", he been past the 1st round of the playoffs just once; and he's had numerous losing seasons.

You can't win with Jamiaon because he's not good enough to offset the fact he's never figured out how not to be total defensive sieve.

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. :D

Let me try!

Vince Carter is the most overrated player in NBA history. In 12 seasons as "the man", he's never past the 2nd round of the playoffs; and he's had numerous losing seasons.

You can't win with Carter because he's not good enough to carry a team and he's never figured out how to compliment a team.

or

Tracy McGrady is is the most overrated player in NBA history. In 8 seasons as "the man", he's never been past the 1st round of the playoffs.

You can't win with McGrady because he's not good enough to carry a team and he's never figured out how to compliment a team.

This list can also continue with the following:

Baron Davis
Elton Brand
Yao Ming
Chris Bosh
Everyone that's on the Wizards roster

And the winner:
Steve Francis!

I know you're joking, but to address your argument: the difference between Iverson and Jamison is that nobody considers Jamison a first-option superstar and hall-of-famer. If you talked to any casual NBA fan 5 years ago, they would have placed Iverson among the top 5 players in the game, top 10 at worst. Nobody ever considered Jamison in the top 20 or even top 30.

I'd take Iverson for sue

If I was trying to put together an all-star team of "NBA Guys Who Look Like their High During Games." Him and T-Mac would make a perfect backcourt.
