These numbers don't account for injuries obviously, so the young guys in particular should have higher numbers by seasons end as they are plugged in for guys who are out.

STARTER: Gilbert Arenas - 36mins - 22pts / 7asts / 4rebs

STARTER: Mike Miller - 30mins - 13pts / 4asts / 5rebs (only backup '3' in the rotation)

STARTER: Caron Butler - 36mins - 17pts / 4asts / 6rebs

STARTER: Antawn Jamison - 32mins - 17pts / 1ast / 7rebs

STARTER: Brendan Haywood - 32mins - 10pts / 1ast / 8rebs

*****

6TH MAN: Randy Foye - 28mins - 13pts / 4asts / 3rebs (Swings between the '1' and '2')

ROTATION PLAYER: Andray Blatche - 20mins - 7pts / 1asts / 5rebs (spot minutes at the '5', otherwise '4')

ROTATION PLAYER: JaVale McGee - 12mins - 4pts / 0asts / 3rebs

ROTATION PLAYER: Nick Young - 14mins - 6pts / 1ast / 1reb

*****

OUT OF ROTATION: DeShawn Stevenson - Little to no playing time

OUT OF ROTATION: Dominic McGuire - Little to no playing time

OUT OF ROTATION: Javaris Crittenton - Little to no playing time

OUT OF ROTATION: Mike James - Little to no playing time

I'd start with the 2006/07 numbers because that's the last time everybody was healthy. Shave off 1 or 2% because we'll play a slightly slower pace.

Haywood will play more minutes than in 06/07, and he'll play roughly like his 2007/08 season on a per-minute basis.

I figure the Big Three will all play about 10% less minutes than in 2006/07 so their numbers should drop accordingly. Arenas will pass a little more and shoot a bit less. Foye, Miller and Young will get a few more shots and shoot a bit more efficiently than Stevenson, Hayes, Mason and Daniels. Blatche and McGee will get all the touches that DSong, Etan, Blatche and Booth got, plus they'll get a few of Jamison's touches as well.

Predicting everyone's actual numbers is pretty pointless. Nobody is going to look at the numbers I post anyhow.

nobody has gil dishing out more than 7apg?
nobody has 'wood pulling down a double double?
nobody has AJ scoring 20+?

Gil: 23/9/4
Butler: 19/3/6
AJ: 21//2/9
Wood: 13/10/2.3 blocks

the rest of the guys are just semantic.

Has Arenas ever averaged more than six assists per game with us? And that's with him playing 40-42 MPG, which most of us expect to be 36-38 this year. Even assuming his game needs to change a bit post-injury, getting up to seven per game in fewer minutes is a pretty nice improvement. Asking to move past that is a setup for disappointment, I think.

I think two things work against Haywood. First, his first priority is defense, both on his own man, as well as covering for the failures of his teammates. Playing tight D doesn't always leave him in the best position to grab boards. But that's okay, because the second thing is that we have lots of other solid rebounders surrounding him. Arenas, Butler, and Jamison are all good on the boards, and now we've added Miller, who last year was possibly the best rebounding perimeter player in the league. Haywood may not average 10+ RPG, but we don't really need him to.

Jamison, well, he's sort of the in-between of those two situations. Like Arenas, he'll probably be playing fewer MPG, maybe say 34-36. That alone knocks off a few points. And like Haywood on the boards, he doesn't need to score as much now as he has the past couple of years; throw in the returning Arenas and newly acquired offense-focused Miller and Foye, and him putting up 16-18 PPG seems like plenty. If he's going too far above that, he's probably taking on more of the offensive load than we want him to.

Arenas: 82 games
Butler: 658 Mickey D's straws
AJ: 312 flip shots and 0 defense
Wood: 30+ MPG
Millions: 2-3 3's per
Mike James: 82 DNP-CD

Has Arenas ever averaged more than six assists per game with us?

Yes.

05-06 he averaged 6.1 assists (and 29.3 ppg)
06-07 -- 6.0 assists (28.4 ppg)

Last season he averaged 10 apg, but that's just 2 games so I'm not counting that one.

If other guys are able to step and EFFICIENTLY carry more of the scoring load, Arenas will likely do more assisting and less scoring.

Ha okay - then change my question from "Has Arenas ever averaged more than six assists with us?" to "Has Arenas ever averaged more than 6.1 assists with us?"

I think Gil leads the league in assist this year depending on how much he plays.

STARTER: Arenas- 26/12/4

STARTER: Miller- 8

STARTER: Butler- 18

STARTER: Jamison- 16

STARTER: Wood- 12

BENCH: Foye- 12

BENCH: NY- 11

BENCH: Blatche- 10

BENCH: McGee- 4

Those numbers arent exacct but close and yes, I do think we will be up in the one-teens in scoring this year

You're out of touch with the pulse of the board, sir. We're chomping at the bit to begin analyzing the effect of an Oberto signing.

You make it sound like we have time management skills or something.

If Arenas is anything more than 80% of his previous self I'll be ASTOUNDED. I think with his now limited mobility he will not be able to slash to the basket, so he'll be a jump shooter. If he gets 21 ppg I'll be AMAZED, and as far as averaging 7 assists per game, forget, not if he can't get to the basket anymore.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

DAMN!!
this means gil would be responsible for 50 pts per game!!!
I would love to see it but its kind of wishful thinking... but if it turns out to happen we would all be very happy people on here waiting for that MVP to come to DC next season

Without going into all of it, I see Arenas averaging 25 pts, 5 reb, 12 assists, 2 t/o/ and 2 stls and the Wizards scoring 112 ppg.

How the rest of the minutes/points get divided up is going to be a lot of fun to watch for long suffering fans of Les Boulez...
