Cleveland started poorly, but seems to have righted the ship after winning 2 in a row. The odds don't favor us winning this one on the road, particularly with Jamison hurt.

These days, the best formula for beating Shaq is to have a jumpshooting big who can draw him out of the paint and force him to play pick-and-roll defense. Guys like Brad Miller or Mehmet Okur kill Shaq. If Haywood can't handle Shaq in the paint, then our next-best option might be to try to outscore him at the other end by playing Blatche at C and running the high screen and roll.

I wonder if Flip will utilize DMac to help slow down Lebron?

no option for a single digit win? (or a loss) well played. If we win it, it'll be by les than 3 points!

From now on only Millertime should be allowed to start game threads (He is good luck).

Blatche will be the key in this game, if he continues his torrid pace then we should win it. The Cavs have no answer for our stacked swingman rotation. Arenas, Miller, Foye, Butler, Stevenson, and Nick Young will put points on the board. We just need to close out on the 3 point shooters and don't let Shaq have a big game.

Well, we allowed the Nets to score 104 points w/o Devin Harris. An under-manned Wiz team playing a deep Cavs team in Cleveland = easy win for the Cavs.

I think the Wizards have a decent shot to beat Cleveland, if the fouls aren't problematic too early.

KOV360, I agree that the Wizards need to close out on 3 point shooters to win this. Wizards should try to make it an uptempo game with bigs running the court in transition.

I can't see Blatche having anywhere near the kind of game he's been having. I think the keys to this game are Gilbert Arenas and Mike Miller. Cleveland is a defensive team that's been fairly low scoring (but they're way better with Delonte). If Arenas and Miller can make sure the Wizards move the ball quickly for open shots, this will affect the Cavs chemistry and composure defensively. Score on them from outside, get them frustrated, and then have guys like Blatche, McGee, and Oberto around the basket for easy points. I think the perimeter guys have to bring it.

I don't count on a win simply because it's in Cleveland and I expect Oberto and Miller to be in foul trouble, and I never count on Butler against Lebron. But I do think all things being equal this Wizard team might be a little better than Cleveland right now.

EDITED TO ADD: Cleveland's beat the Timberwolves and the Bobcats. Maybe they'll overestimate themselves and underestimate the Wizards. After all, according to James "it's not a rivalry".
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I think this was a game I called as a win in the opening month prediction thread, and I'm certainly not backing away from it now.

How are we undermanned? We're missing 1 guy.

It's unfair to go just by how many points the nets scored, you need to account for pace (I have no stat to back this up, but it seemed like a fast paced game) and the fact they scored a good amount of points in garbage time. From watching the game, the Wizards seemed to play good and energetic defense.

In my season predictions, I counted this one a loss.

I think we will lose this one...BIG

:noway:

I hope Gil and company prove me wrong
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

If you watched the game, don't shoot the messenger. LOL. Well did you?

We played really good ball, flip made some great adjustments and then we started to kick ass. We put the breaks on at the end of the 3rd Qtr. It could have been a much bigger final score.

I need help understanding your flawed logic. Because the Wizards allowed the Nets to go over 100 in a game where the 4th quarter was extended garbage time, it means an easy win for Cavs because the Wiz are undermanned? What kind of juju thinking is that?

We'll win by 30+...

7Day Dray gets 25, CB gets 25, Arenas get 35 & 10...

Cavs suck...

Since you cannot embed more than a couple of quotes, I'll answer Youngal, Jwiz etc here.

Don't put words in my mouth, I never said we didn't play well, I was just stating a fact when I wrote that we allowed the Nets to score 104 points - a season high for them and the most points they have scored since the beat the Knicks in pre-season.

It is also a fact that 2 of the trio are out. Perhaps Butler will be ok by Tuesday, I don;t know. The point was

We gave -up a lot of points to the Nets who were w/o Devin Harris so if we gave up a lot of point to a bad team with two of our best players out, then it would not be a stretch to predict an easy Cavs win.

I know what youre saying and Im kind of 50/50 on that with you and the other guys. I dont think our D was as bad as you say but I also dont think it was as good as they say. I will say this and I think people overlook it. The Nets system was damn good looking in that game. They might didnt have Harris but that was a hard system to stop. I was watching there screens, cuts, and so on. It looked like it wouldve been hard to stop and they were on with there shots. No doubt the Cavs are a much better team than the Nets but the Cavs also have the most basic offense in the league. Thats why I dont think you can look at it that way. There offense looks like crap most of the time and is just flat out basic. They will just throw it to Shaq and let him go one on one or run a pick & roll with LB & Z. That will be easier for us to defend if you ask me
