Came across this tidbit that I never would have known:

Wizards may be NBA's best value

By Tim Lemke on Nov. 2, 2009 into SportsBiz

The Washington Wizards have been downright fun to watch this year, and it turns out they are also relatively cheap to see in person, according to the latest information from Team Marketing Report.

According to TMR, the Wizards' average ticket price is $27.21, the third-lowest in the NBA, ahead of only New Orleans and Memphis. Prices dropped about 6.6 percent from last year.

The average price is more than $20 less than the league-average $48.90.

The Wizards also rate well in TMR's Fan Cost Index (FCI), which seeks to determine the cost to attend the game for a family of four, including parking, food, program and souvinir cap. The Wizards' FCI is $196.83, nearly $100 less than the league average of $289.87.

The Wiz will pay the lux tax, with one of the higher end payrolls in the league, but are still keeping the game fan-affordable in the down economy. Understood you can't up ticket costs following a 19-win season, but still I appreciate that Abe & Co are letting the game stay affordable for the local folks.

Thanks Unca Abe.

I rarely go to the games, but this is quite nice for those that do. Nice job team.

The Wizards reduced planholder prices in most areas and really made an effort to make it worthwhile to renew. We ended up downgrading from half-season to All-Star, but were able to get an equivalent location as well as a discount.

I'm gonna catch some games this year, definitely. They have $10 tickets. Yeah, you are basically touching the roof, but it's really not a bad seat.
