Preview
For a game very early in the season this Southeastern match up could have big implications down the road. Both teams are coming off of disappointing losses last night, Wizards to the Cavs and Heat to the Suns. Wizards looked very good in their first and only back-to-back game of the season in the home opener this past Saturday. Of course that was the Nets and this is the 3-1 Heat.

Will the Wizards bounce back a night after being hosed by the refs? Will D-Wade receive preferential treatment like LeWhine did last night? Will Caron start to transition into the offense?

gotta get a W tonight

no losing streaks this year!

plus MIA is obviously in our div and we should expect
at least the possibility of tie-breakers being important
at the end of the year.

If we can outscore them, I like our chances.

Why are you dissing Deshawn Stevenson like that, jholmbe? He gets more minutes in the rotation than McGee and almost as much as Oberto.

...I suppose it could be wishful thinking.

We were one of the worst in-division teams of all time last year when it came to getting the W. I say we do win, because it is a home game and Flip will make the changes needed. Gilbert was 100% right when he said we began to struggle due to the lack of ball movement (and the refs). I am expecting a fairly big win, by 10.

Wiz 110, Heat 100.

I'll be surprised and concerned if this is not an easy win. I think we match up pretty well with Miami. Dwayne will get his but I think the rest of our guys match up pretty well with the Heat. I might consider starting Foye or Stevenson with Arenas in this game though, because I can't see either Butler or Miller checking Chalmers or Wade.

We've got a significant size advantage that should be reflected on the boards (not to mention that our bigs should be rested after sitting on the bench with foul trouble last night). Gil vs Wade should end in a draw and we've got better firepower everywhere else. It all points to a Wiz win IMO.

Yes sir.

I'm leaving the office in about 30 mintues to get some grub and then hit the game.

Looking forward to seeing a Wiz victory.

I would hope we're mentally strong enough to come back from a bad loss in Cleveland with a strong performance tonight. Never know, though.

What I want to see tonight...

- An aggressive Gilbert Arenas, relentlessly attacking the rim
- A smart Brendan Haywood, only scoring when it's a good option and passing it up when it's not
- A lot less DeShawn Stevenson
- A crapload of poise if we get a substantial lead

I want an attacking Gilbert too, but not an attacking Gilbert that's singularly focused on scoring. I think he needs to go back to getting other guys involved early. I know he was big out of the gate last night, but I wonder if that came at the expense of other guys not being as in the flow later on.

Miami is pretty-good and they have always had our number. A balanced attack led by some hot-shooting from Gilbert should be enough to compensate for Super-Wade.

This team is trying to play unselfish basketball and it's backfiring.

Nice effort. Way to put 6-2 1/2 Foye on Wade. Have him defend Richardson, who only plays perimeter and put Caron on him. Smart move Flip.

As Gilbert goes, so goes Washington. It seems like he can turn it over 10 times in a row and take 10 bad shots and will never get lifted.
