I'm not sure why he had it, I mean he knows Shaq plays for CLE.

Fine and maybe a one game suspension, at worse. That is, unless DCPD decides to get involved then there might be more trouble ahead.

Let's see. What other kinds of distractions can we come up with?
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Perhaps he was holding the gun for Delonte West?
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

It looks like much ado about nothing:

Mike Jones wrote:I was able to get a hold of Gil by phone, and this is what he had to say: "It happened like December 10th. Right after my daughter was born. I decided I didn't want the guns in my house and around the kids anymore, so i took them to my lock box at Verizon Center. Then like a week later, I turned them over to team security and told them to hand them over to the police, because I don't want them anymore. I wouldn't have brought them to D.C. had I known the rules. After my daughter was born, I was just like, I don't need these anymore.”

The biggest concern is that the league doesn't permit players to have firearms on league property. I don't know if Arenas will get suspended for that, or if he'll get a pass because he was the one who brought the guns to security attention in the first place.

Hmmm.

This maybe somewhat similar to what happened to Sebastian Telfare, who got caught not once, but twice with a gun. The first time was actually on the team plane (!), hidden in a pillow. He later claimed his girl-friend put it there and he forgot?? The 2nd time I believe he was caught with one in a car in NY, which is a big no no.

Regardless, I don't believe he got anything worse than a minor suspension for the 1st offense; but the 2nd once got him traded away from Boston I believe.

At least he didn't pull a Plaxico and shoot himself in the foot.

Hopefully this is a non-issue, but it does seem like the DC gun laws could be the wild-card.
