Memphis is playing fairly well, so we'll probably beat them. Can't have your hopes destroyed if they haven't been built up a little first, after all.

That's what I was thinking, the Grizz have been playing really well and the Gasol-Randolph tandom has been beastly in the post. This is a game in-which I wish we had a bruising PF. Randolph is a bad, bad, match-up for AJ.
But with this group, a hot-shooting night (which is what it always comes down to with the group) could get us the win. Go-figure.

MEM is a lot like us (tons of scorers, lacking on defense) except they have one thing we don't - post scoring with Randolph and Gasol. If they get those guys going early and get us in foul trouble, we're toast. We have to keep the tempo up and get them into a jumpshooting match. Even then we can still lose but our chances are better IMO.

Grizz-fan POV
Downtown wrote:Washington is a dangerous team. They are in a bit of dissarrray, with veterans questioning each other. But with the talent of their big three of Arenas, Jamison, and Butler, when their backs are to the wall they can come out throwing caution to the wind and put up big scoring numbers. Another thing the Wizards have that alot of teams the Grizzlies play don't have is a bunch of big men to throw at Randolph and Gasol. Jamison, Blatche, Haywood, and McGee are all big and strong.
I wouldn't bet money on this game one way or the other. But the Grizzlies have been able to start games off in good fashion for the first half this season and if they come out with intensity they may be able to get the Wizards down early and have the self doubts get to them. Who knows really though?

Everybody knows except our coach. (big and strong part forgiven)

This commentary is right on. I sat right behind the basket in Richmond during our first preseason game and Jamison looked/played puny against those guys. Early in the game we got hammered on the boards... then, miraculously, Jamison went out, Blatche and Miller came in, and all was good. Watch the film, Flip!

The Wizards will route the Grizzlies in this one to setup the inevitable let down game against Oklahoma that will culminate in yet another 5 game losing streak against the Spurs, Sixers, Cavs and Magic.
Fork, meet Wizards.

When is Mike Miller coming back?!?!?

I want Mike!
Isn't it sad that the only player I want to see in a Wiz jersey is an unathletic white guy who looks like a girl.

closg00, I'm the guy that posted on the Grizzlies board what you quoted. By the way, I'm not a big Grizzlies fan but since I lost my Seattle Sonics I've kind of picked up on them and follow them a bit since it's more fun to post about how to fix a lower team than a top one.
Maybe I overeacted in calling your big men "strong", but my point was that they have the size and if your coach keeps throwing them at Randolph and Gasol then even though your players will pick up alot of fouls they might be able wear down the Grizzlies physical frontline. I wouldn't worry about picking up fouls. Boston always plays that way and live with the fouls and substitute accordingly.
Since I'm on the westcoast I confess to not watching alot of Wizards games, but I always thought McGee has shown good potential and wonder why he doesn't get more playing time. My strategy tonight would be for Saunders to tell Haywod to play smart but tough. He's a veteran and should have the savvy to do that. Give McGee time when Haywood gets either early fouls or tires. I would also throw Blatche in there whenever Randolph goes on a scoring run against Jamison.

This game should be very interesting. I say that because I was totally shocked last game. We had won 2 in a row, 3 of 4, everyone was up beat, all the former Wolves guys coming back home, and they had a great dinner the night before at Flip's house. I saw in the paper after the game that everyone talked about shot selection and being selfish but to me that was way way way secondary. The main thing is that from the jump they had no energy and were flat. I never expected that after all the stuff I named. How could that happened? Now though Im thinking that maybe I needed to cut them some slack and maybe it shouldve been expected with the Christmas Holiday, the traveling, and everything. Thats why I really want to see what happeneds tonight. Was it a one game fluke where that stuff made us flat or are we really just a bad team still. I want to see some energy from the jump.
I hope the criticism of Gil shooting too much doesnt make him strictly pass happy tonight because I think he could go off against these guys. I didnt think he really shot all that much anyways. He took 28 shots but I think he did it because of what I talked about. Everyone else seemed flat. He was the only one that seemed to have some pep in his step and I thought he couldve had like 18ast if guys didnt miss easy or open shots. The Grizz are a much better team than in the past so they will think they should win this. They wont have Gay which helps. This game will be interesting to watch but if we play with energy, and Gil stays aggressive, then I think we can play with anyone

Ah right, it's actually on tonight.
OT - I called comcast earlier today to ask them about what
happened Saturday night. I told them that Verizon told me
that they were broadcasting what Comcast sent them. Comcast
told me that that was technically impossible. Figures Verizon
would lie or try to cover-up.
need a win - go wiz
no rudy gay should help our cause; everybody man up.
still would like to see N1 start over Foye. I don't agree with
that move by Flip.
