Sheridan: Blatche & James Most-likely to be traded

Ben (DC)
Will the Wizards get more than expirings for Jamison and Butler? Will they even get that?
Chris Sheridan (2:59 PM)
Absolutely they would. They aren't giving those guys away for nothing. and i nobody is offering value by the deadline, they'll wait until draft time to make their moves. By then, they'll also know what kind of a sentence Gilbert Arenas receives in D.C., and that'll impact whether they are able to void his contract or must try to trade him. If you want to know who I think are the most likely Wizards to be traded by Feb. 18, I'd say andray Blatche and Mike James.
Belongs in the trade thread, but I wanted to draw some attention to it, perhaps Chris has heard something.

Combined Blatche and James make $9.46M so if they trade for a guy with a multi-year deal it's gonna put them over the tax. Or maybe with the cap projected to be higher that give them the green light.
As for what this means for the rest of the team, if they're trading Blatche that means they're keeping Jamison. Otherwise who's going to play PF?

Hmm, could be Mehmet Okur, the salaries match and Utah is all about dumping salary. Plus, you could totally see Ernie trading for someone like Okur since Wood is gone. Sorry Rico

Nah, I think next year you have to go with McGee even if it means taking some bumps because his upside is far too high and he's never going to fully get it unless he plays a bunch of meaningful minutes

What!? Mike James traded? Ughh I thought we found our PG in of the future when he checked in.
Blatche could be flipped for a rookie contract since his is so salary is comparable. Then again he could be flipped with James for a veteran to "save the season". It'll be interesting where management takes this one if these rumors prove to be true.

No need to apologize to me. I would absolutely do Blatche+James for Okur. The problem is that Sloan would never go for adding a knucklehead like Blatche.

I don't see how Blatche and James would get combined into a package because the return salary would put us way over the luxtax next year. This deal could only happen in conjunction with the dumping of one of Butler, Arenas or Jamison for expirings.

People are responding to this as if Sheridan said "there's an imminent trade with Blatche and James leaving the Wiz, but I can't say who is coming back."
All he said is that he think James and Blatche are the mostly likely candidates to be traded before the deadline.

It's on the internets, gotta be a done deal!

The best part is that it's going to get picked up tomorrow by HoopsHype and Hoopsworld and then become an "official rumor," that's going to get picked up by Yahoo, CNN and ESPN for their "rumor mill" sections. Tarded.

C'mon, you guys know James played yesterday only because they were show-casing him.

I think the deal would be Amare for Butler, Blatche and James.

Well at least now we know who the Mike James doubters are on the Wiz Board.
Didn't you hear what he said? That he was the team's best point guard in pre-season?

Let me think about this .... Blatche is 23 and is a better defender, better shotblocker, and is signed ridiculously cheaply. Plays very similar to Okur, only not as good a shooter, a little more foul prone. Okur is 30, having a down season, makes a lot more money, is a soft big man in general .... This is just the kind of move the Wizards would do.
I like Okur but if he's their plan to replace Haywood this team just got even softer.

^ So what? At least with Okur you know what you're gonna get from game to game. I'm sick of waiting these for knucleheads to consistently perform and constantly being let down. Throw the bums out!

Sheridan is not really a 'breaking-story' kind of 'reporter'. I'm sure he was just musing.
His specialty is hyping up rookies and then jumping ship when they hit the wall in February.
Now if it was Chad Ford instead.....

Trading Blatche... with his cheap contract and with what we saw when Jamison was injured is just pure idiocy!

Just like ernie. Let's trade our only bigman who has the potential to be above average on both sides of the court before we even allow him start. I like okur but give nick young ..hell give them anyone on the roster before u give them blatche and mcgee. There is nick young. Foye. We got oberto. We got dmac. Hell give them a econd round draft pick and salary relief. Just keep batche and mcgee out of all trades.
