He has already made the money and has stated its not about that anymore. Appeal to let him know we want to build around him, still believe in him, and want him as our go to guy. He isn't that old, turning 31 in late May. I say he still has some years left on him. Especially if he is overlooked by a competent medical staff.
- Sign David Lee to a deal of similar value but longer
- Scola is an unrestricted free agent after this year. He is getting paid 3.375m in the final year of his contract, put a bid in for him. 4 years 14m.
- J. Howard still has fuel left in the tank. Don't exercise the option on the final year of this deal worth 11.8m. Instead restructure his contract and give him a deal similar to Mcgrady but half the money. Though he has said some real stupid stuff and I want character guys on the team, dude can play ball and we can leverage his worth. This is the ideal time to resign him because his value is at an all time low 4.5mle sounds about right for him. No more then 6.5m. Remember this guy was an all star in 2007.
- Resign Mike Miller to a similar deal, mle $4.5 no more then $5.5.
- Perhaps, take a shot at restricted J.J. Redick 5 year 25 million. I don't see Orlando matching that
- As great as Jamison has been and as much as he has done for the community he is getting old and his contract needs to go. 28 million over the next two years and he will be 35 when the contract expires. Package him and bringing in some expirings, draft picks. Yes, even if that means trading him to rival Cleveland.
- Paul David is a tough player, who look the long road to get here, we need guys like him on your team. He can be scored for pennies on the dollar. Must resign him.
- Acquire Brandon Bass from Orlando somehow, he is locked into a very favorable contract but the Magic have no room for him. Trade Blatch for him maybe. I want character guys on this team.
- We need a center Aaron Gray is restricted this offseason. He might prove to be decent. At the best offer him back up money. He is getting a mil in his final season. Offer him no more then $1.5m to $2m on a 2 year deal team option on third.
- Make a bid for Hilton Armstrong of the Kings, who is going to be a restricted free agent. 3.8 qualifying offer we will see what the Kings do. I say 3 years at $3.3 a season team option on 2 years after that if he proves his worth options goes for $5m for 2 more years.
- Find a team oriented point guard who puts distribution over scoring
- Hmm. I'm kind of stuck in the middle on this point but come on now I guess we got to see Arenas go because he is the one who created this whole mess to some degree. Though everyone is accountable. So trade him for some expirings and a first round pick. We can't expect to get to much in return though; I don't see us getting fair value or any real talent back. As long as we don't have to take on any crazy contracts I would fine with easing him out of DC.
- If that doesn't work out we will have to go with a buyout.
- Or trade him to Portland for Andre Miller (7.3)m and Joel Przybilla (7.4m) Arenas is due 17.3m nxt season so this could be worked out if Portland was interested.
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/portland.htm- Getting unrestricted Steve Blake back into town.
Our team could potentially look something like this next year:
1 A. Miller/Blake/Foye/1st pick in the draft... fingers crossed
2. Howard/Redrick/N. Young
3. Mcgrady/M. Miller/P. David
4. Lee/Scola/Mcguire/
5. Pryzbilla/Armstrong/Gray/Mcgee
This team isn't even over the Luxury Tax. We would still have cap space to make a run at a big time free agent in 2011-2012. Pryzbilla is off the books after 10/11 as is A. Miller. Marc Gasol is due $3.48 next year for Memphis and then he is off the books at age 26. I would love to get that guy on our team. Obviously I wouldn't max the guy, but 7 years 65 – 72 million I could deal with under current CBA. We all know that's going to change so we could adjust accordingly.
This is all circumstantial, but I believe this would work under the potential new CBA. The beauty of this is that this actually feasible and I feel the players would commit even with the current CBA standing as it is.
We have all angels covered; ball handlers, passers, shooters, slashers, defensive players, post players, length, high IQ players, marketable guys, toughness, unselfishness, good average age, just a pretty good all around team. I believe this team could contend in the East. Even if Mcgrady went down they could still compete for a playoff spot. Also Mcgrady has had quite a bit of time to recover, his body is in great condition. As long as we get a good medical staff we should be good to go.
We must clear out our current medical staff. At this point everyone is aware of this. We need to do our due of diligence, take tips from the Suns and other great staffs. Look at the durability and recovery late of their players. Even OKC has a team chef monitoring players diets and what not. We must make sure are players are eating healthy, raw natural organic food, clean energized water, etc. We are in new era of modern medicine, there are many alternative treatments, which get you to to A-Z a lot quicker then what our current staff is using. I'm not going to go into this to much because the conscious Wizards fans are already more then aware of this well documented situation and why it is as it is. Now that Polin is gone (R.I.P Abe) a new owner will be more lenient to clear out Polin's old boy connects.
As Spaceman mentioned, have Leonis acquire the team, bring in a new young ambitious GM. Flip was def overpaid I'm willing to give him another year to prove his worth though. As for EG he has to go.
As bad as the season has went it could be worse. We don't have that many bad contracts on the books. Teams are showing interest in Jamison. Arenas displayed he can still play this season so he still has trade value to some degree. Also we are in position to get a draft player in the upcoming draft.
