The Wizards are Already a Better Team!

McGee can play. He and Blatche will do things that Jamison/Haywood could not.

Now the team will be run not according to certain players having license to dominate the ball.

I've done nothing but complain about Grunfeld not getting enough value in return for guys with reputations and all star pasts, but to be honest, the Wizards real problem was Butler/Jamison at forwards lacked athleticism, the ability to defend, and each felt entitled to take many shots without sharing the ball. They had friction with young guys. Flip catered to them.

Now, Young will play instead of Stevenson. Miller will be the SF. Blatche and McGee will play very well. Guys like Singleton and Ross will defend.

BEST OF ALL, I'm through being negative about Washington. It's been blown up. Good riddance.

They'll win at least 12 of the last 30, if they don't go .500 or better.

CCJ, I really like watching Josh Howard. You notice right away he's way more athletic than Caron was. Honestly, I'd take Howard over Caron given Howard's better defense and athleticism.

Maybe the Wiz keep Howard's option?

I'm digging the new found optimism guys. It's been tough to find any reason for hope all season. They've actually been fun to watch tonight. Most fun I've had watching the Wiz since Agent Zero was warming up earlier this season.

I'm not watching and just got in from work here in HI--just glancing at the box scores.

I hadn't really given Howard much thought because I'm assuming he's merely a salary dump. Also, he's been a bad slump all year long after being injured. It would be nice if the guy returns to form and is resigned to a reasonable deal.

Epic collapse to start the fourth. Wiz outscored 16-1 so far.

Regardless, I'm happy with new faces playing. :)

OK, what'd I miss?
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

They are definitely much younger and much more athletic now. If Flip can keep them motivated to maintain that energy level that they had today they should be fun to watch.

i think we've learned that we need to wait a few games before making these kinds of statements.

really beginning to wonder about butler's influence. between the offhand comment about arenas-butler not getting along, some of the early comments from arenas/wood and the rumblings of chemistry issues (clearly not due to foye, miller, or oberto) recently i gotta think there was something more going on behind the scenes.
Until Grunfeld goes there is no rebuild.

They aren't a better team, they are a bad team, don't jinx us. With very few exceptions, the way to a ring is through bad years and high draft picks unless you get a Shaq who wants to make movies or stupid people draft Kenny Green and let Karl Malone slip to you. (NEVER TO FORGET, NEVER TO FORGIVE) The key is to be bad enough to lose a lot of games while selling hope and training up your young players to create a setting for the hoped for diamond you get picking on top (KWAME! ah, never mind)

This draft everybody knows Turner, Cousins, and probably Wall are studs. That said, I see a few guys in the 15-35 range this season that IMO are going to be next season's Darren Collisons, Marcus Thorntons, etc. (I think Aubrey Coleman's a pretty good bet to step in and play well, just to name one player).

I don't think it's at all important that the Wizards have a top three pick. YES, I want Turner, but he's not the only potentially great player available.

What I like is that the Wizards have length and athleticism at every positon but PG right now.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the draft thread now gets major burn...

It was the Twolves who are just as bad as the Wizards, so I don't know how much it means long term. However I think Mike Miller and Josh Howard work together pretty well. Blatche played out of his mind and McGee looked pretty good. I think Singleton could be a good hustle guy.

My question is this... who is the captain of this team ?

You have to think Miller would be one. Is it Miller and Dray ?

Right now we have no captain that I know of.

Only think I really miss is Haywood leaving. I though we could have rebuild with him here.

But I can see this team turning it around with Miller and Dray. I like Singleton as a keeper. Still have Foye and Mini Me. Now Josh. Add big Z. This team could actually win which may not be a good thing right now but .....

To be fair it was the T-Wolves. They are barely an NBA team right now so let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I think it should be some super-dedicated fan. And Whoopi Goldberg should be the coach.
