420 Appreciate Josh Howard Every Day

Alright guys, if we really want to be honest with ourselves this hot streak we're on is probably not going to last and this team needs a fair amount of work before it's ready to contend for anything meaningful. But that's another thread, this thread is about Josh Howard, and how much not worse he is than Caron Butler.

The man was a monster in college, first team AP All-American, first team all ACC and all ACC defensive first team, a Wooden Award finalist, Basketball Digest National Player of the Year the first member of his family to graduate from college. Nevertheless he was drafted 29th overall because scouts assumed he'd maxed out and would be a bench player in the NBA. Uh uh, not Josh Howard. The man worked hard and became a solid NBA starter offensively and defensively. Now he's a Wizard, and ballin'. And if he keeps on keepin' on he may just be a Wizard for a while longer. Josh Howard ladies and gentlemen, let's talk about Josh.

I like how feisty he is right now, playing with new energy and something to prove. Those arms are ridiculously long, he could pick a dime off the ground on the passengers side while sitting in the drivers seat of the Escalade.

Loved his comment at the end. Fans stood up and cheered the squad, he said: pretty sure they showed up for Melo, but we're gonna convince them to show up for us.

great description

what I said after the trade is that one way to evaluate a trade is
which team got the single best player. I think it's at least arguable
that we got the best player in Howard in the deal with DAL

And after seeing Thornton (who I thought wasn't playing tonight),
I'm not sure he isn't the best player in that trade.

Now it's only 2 games, the first against a horrible team, the
2nd against a VERY good team but coming off a back2back
and an emotional win. But if we win on the road tomorrow,
people may have to stop making excuses why we're winning
and admit that EG robbed CLE/DAL/LAC in these 2 trades.

I suppose this is the wrong thread for it, but another idea is that we could evaluate the trade based on them getting the two worst players and both with multi-year contracts. :D

Oh man, but i like Josh quite a bit. I like his candor in interviews too. He's already jockeying with Mike James for best quotes of 2010 and he's been here for about three days.

Really Howard is a good player. For whatever reason he went wheels off here in Dallas. Howard was never really the same since they traded his buddy Devin Harris. The trade hopefully will give Howard his desire to play back. I think all of you Wiz fans will be pleasantly surprised about how good Howard can be when he wants to be. It is not far fetched for Howard to be a 22/7 player for you.

Singleton should surprise you also. Singleton was very good for us last season when given the opportunity. He did not get much time at all this season buried behind Drew Gooden.

Good luck to you all.

I don't think EG robbed the other teams. He recognized players that weren't a good fit where they were and would appreciate an opportunity to show what they can do and he provided that. Dallas got two starters. Cleveland got Jamison (who stunk it up but should show up eventually). Two good win/win trades.
