And the injury curse strikes its newest victim: Josh Howard

I'm not usually a believer in superstitions. But I do believe that the injury curse has struck once again. It seems that the injury curse became a problem when in that one season we were doing well, and, we were in 1st place for a while, and back then when we still had the big 3- they weren't healthy again until the 2008-9 season. And then Antawn Jamison got injured and things returned to normalcy. Now, Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood and Caron Butler are gone, but, the curse still lingers. It saw our recent wave of success and it struck after Josh Howard. I believe Josh Howard is only its latest sacrifice. Will it strike again? Maybe... but I think that we need to do something to lift this curse. I believe that until we lift this curse we might not be able to be a team (in the sense that we have all the complete players, and, everyone healthy) again until it's lifted. Is there anything we can do to lift it?

Is it really a curse when we aren't contending? It's almost a blessing since it happened to an expiring contract and helps us in our quest for John Wall.

Please. Look at Howard's career history with injuries. He's just not a durable guy. I don't wish him any ill will, but in a few months he'll be someone else's problem.
There's no such thing as curses, my friends. Basketball is a dangerous game and injuries are part of it.

Nah, no curse. When we traded for Josh I said two words describe him best: always injured.

Yeah. But what makes you think that the injury curse didn't help him injure himself? I'm starting to think the injury curse just came back to life and caused him to injure himself on that one play.

It's not the injury that concerns me... It's the treatment. Be scared Josh, be very scared!

I feel bad for him, he brings a lot of good things and I hope it's not so serious that OTHER teams wouldn't give him a nice contract this summer.

Based on Wizards history, I have to assume Howard has leprosy in that knee.

Good point. Howard has only played more than 70 games in a season twice -- in 04-05 and 07-08.
Sorta reminds me of someone...
Oh, yes. Caron Butler.

Exactly, Howard had not fully recovered from his previous injury.

I agree completely.. Also, I was hoping to see a little more of that weird 4 SF smallball lineup that we used in the 4th quarter against Denver (Boykins, Young, Howard, Thornton, Singleton). That was a lot of fun.

I've heard on good authority that Josh Howard is being traded for Stephon Marbury, some sneakers, and a bottle of Chivas.

What's the difference? Nobody wants to keep him around past the next 30 games anyway. Let him go so we can revel in the CAP SPACE & SWIM IN IT with our owner Scrooge McDuck.

Especially if you play for the Wizards.

While you're obviously being snarky, honestly, I think there's a good amount of truth in this. We won't pick up his option, and odds are at least one or two other teams beats out our best offer (at least I hope so, because if not, we're probably offering too much), so there's a very real chance he's gone. That would make Thornton the starting SF going forward. I think it'd be a nice little advantage if we got at least a small set of games with him starting out of the way this season, to help us determine whether that's something we're comfortable with in the long term.
