Game On

Hopefully this is interesting and we get to see more Livingston. They played well with him a PG to end the last game and NY seemed to find his stroke while Liv was playing. Should be interesting to see if there was anything really there.

Last month, the Atlanta Hawks were unable to make it into Washington D.C. due to a winter storm.

Atlanta would have gone into that meeting on a two-game winning streak, but heads into Thursday's contest having dropped two in a row. The Hawks have been held to fewer than 100 points in both of the road losses after averaging 115.3 points during a four-game winning streak. They are coming off a 99-98 loss at New York on Monday.

Blatche has been the Wizards' top contributor since being inserted in the starting lineup Feb. 17, scoring 23.5 points over the last 11 games.

The Wizards have lost four straight at home and four in a row against Atlanta there.

--- So we should loose badly so my guess is we win by 8. That's the way we roll

Blatche going for a quad double - points rebounds, steals, and turnovers?

I wonder if Foye knows that he's still allowed to pass the ball in the 4th quarter.

I don't have a problem with Foye taking those shots since they were good looks.. He has to knock at least one of those down.

Nice tank-loss, keeping-down with the other bottom-feeders.

First time in 3 or 4 years I thought we could compete athletically with Atlanta. I'm so used to Jamison and Butler get abused by Atlanta's frontline it was interesting to see our new twin towers at work. Both Blatche and McGee have a ways to go but their play was encouraging tonight. Now if we only had a real pair of starting guards to go with them......

That was a pretty nice developmental game there.

McGee showed a lot, I mean, we could stickler it and go on about box out and defensive positioning, but the good outweighed the bad by a lot. Very nice energy and I think we're seeing him make mental adjustments as per post defense, figuring out the refs and challenging shots without going all in on the blocked shot. Obviously the 8 dunks were pretty sweet, in fact tying the 2009-2010 season record. Career high too.

Blatche rallied for a nice game too. Seven turnovers, yeah, but there was a moving screen and a questionable call with a travel on a nice change of direction move under the bucket. But after a spotty first segment, he really came at it with attacking the basket, mixing it up with the inside-outside as well as he has for the past five games or so. So, it was encouraging to see him get off to a poor start and then make the adjustments there, and maybe fighting through some frustration. We won't mention the pass to Josh Smith for the breakaway. We won't mention that at all.

The Hawks shot 54%, but they were also hitting some tough contested jumpers, so I don't think it's quite as bad as all that. We actually outscored them with points in the paint by 12.

Some good stuff to build on in there, good energy and 48 minutes of competitive play.

Oh yeah, and, first time ever:

McGee led the team in minutes!

Yep, funny how athletically we actually can hang with the Hawks now. Much better watching this squad go up against him.

Very nice game from McGee. Those all-oops off of the screens are there ALL DAY. Set those up and McGee could be lethal.

MM should have ceded the ball to NY in the fourth. Not sure what Mike's issue is, but he's not the player he was in the first half of the season, nor the player I thought he was when we got him. Foye had a forgettable game overall.

The Wiz are Gilbert Arenas, and one year of development by McGee away from being better than the Hawks. Considering how pathetic the guards are for the Wizards I'll take this close loss. Wiz front line abused the Hawks *all-star* front line.

If not for us being 1-13 from 3 and not being able to stop them from going 8-17 from three, it would have been a W.

But, I think have a game thread streak going. Quality loose streak.

Ping Pong.

See yeah, tomorrow.

Oh-well, a little tweak here or there and we would have won. Get us some guards.

Isnt this a weird statement. For like 6 years we were saying, "We need big men, we have great guards but no inside game. Now its the opposite...But its much better as the opposite, in my opinion.

Just thought this was interesting...

The Wizards have moved into the "teens" as far as defensive efficiency is concerned (19th).

We were at 22-23 basically all season, then the trade happened and we've looked much differently.

To move up 4-5 spots this late in the season in such a short period of time means we've been playing roughly 12-15th in defensive efficiency.

That's pretty impressive.

I am pleasantly surprised to see that given the loss of Haywood. I expect the replacement of Jamison with Blatche is a significant factor in the improvement.

Has there been a change in the Cavs defensive efficiency?
