I can't find anything in Larry Coon's FAQ that back this up. Yes, we renounced our Bird Rights to Josh Howard, but that only means we can't exceed the cap to resign him. I don't see why that means we can't S&T him. We still have the raw cap space to sign him to any contract that he is likely to receive.
That said, David Aldridge is one guy whom I respect enough that I won't doubt him.
I don't see what a S&T gets us anyhow. We'll either sign Howard, or we won't.
If he decides he wants to go to Boston, and they both agree to a deal around $6M, then we have something to gain.
The Boston board showed some receptiveness to their first for a S&T'd Howard and our second. I'd love to see that go down.
