Anyone think the Kings might be interested in dealing their pick? They are currently at #8 and they already have young players at almost all positions. Not sure how it could work, though. I can see them being interested in McGee, but not straight up for the #8.

Do you all think that the Warriors would attempt to move Anthony Randolph? I know he had his ups/downs w. Nellie this past year and he's coming off of an injury. I would be intrigued at the prospect of bringing him to DC. If that's the case...would you dangle Andray Blatche?

I would be intrigued to bring Randolph here but not for Blatche.

Where would he play? It seems to me that Randolph is best utilized as a mismatch at PF, where we already have Blatche. Not sure if he's the longterm answer at SF, and if he's not then I'd rather spend my assets elsewhere.

The Warrior I'd target isn't Randolph, it's Andris Biedrins. He's coming off an a terrible, injury-laden year and I think he could be had for a reasonable price. He's young, signed long term, and is the rebounding vacuum we need to complement Blatche.

I don't know how his defense is though. I'd need to feel good about it to take on $9M a year for him

While I don't thin he'd cost a ton, I also don't know what we could give Golden State for him. They'd want more than just salary relief. I'd give up the Cleveland pick, but probably not McGee.

I agree he's most useful as a power forward so he would likely come off the bench. Plus Blatche can move over and play center if he plays up to his abilities. Still, there probably isn't anything on the Wizards roster that would be worth a prospect like that unless of course more pieces are involved.

He's a late-game liability. Sure, he does some things that are nice on the defensive end, but he's hack-a-biedrins (doesn't have the same ring as hack-a-shaq LOL) waiting to happen. Opposing teams would salivate to get him on the FT line in the crunch.

I think Randolph has a higher upside, and gives you more bang for the buck.

Out of curiosity, are we set on keeping Blatche around for a while? I say move him this summer. Yeah, he's put up HUGE #'s, but I'm just worried about the maturity/laziness issues that have plagued him since he broke into the league. Who knows if he'll ever "get it?" I put him in the same category as JR Smith....talented as heck, but who knows what's going on upstairs.

do they have any positions of need? and what do we have in the way of assets to swing? i cant think of anyone apart from mcgee, thornton and nick. maybe they decide they need some veteran help, sign and trade miller? can we even do that on draft day?

do you think they would go for mcgee + cleve pick for the #8? that way if we dont get wall or turner and end up with cousins, we can pick up a SG with the 8. or if we get wall or turner, we could take aldrich with the 8, or another big.

Trading Blatche is stupid. Please quit listening to 980 and 106.7

He is a lot more mature than his first four seasons and he has been focused when called upon to start this season... You do not trade young bigs who are producing like this, you just don't. They are too hard to come by.

Blatche at this point should be untouchable. hes still locked into a cheap deal for two more seasons. in terms of production to pricetag he would have to be THE best deal in the NBA right now. other teams looking to poach him should just forget about it. unless the trade talks involve dwayne wade or something really juicy.

We can't so any sign-and-trades on draft day, but the McGee+30-for-#8 framework crossed my mind as well. I don't think it's enough, though. I think they'd want us to take back Nocioni's contract, which has 2 more guaranteed years on it. Maybe we get lucky and the last year of Noc's deal is negated by the lockout.

McGee+Ross+Young+30 for Nocioni+Greene+8?

But I only do it if Aldrich or Johnson is still there. I don't do it for Ed Davis or Greg Monroe.

Why was it so important? What happens is the thread hits 100 pages? Is it like googling google? Would the Internets implode?

Here's a thought:

Houston has $60M in salary obligations next year before factoring the costs to resign Scola and Lowry. With a luxtax threshold around $63M, they might be interested in a BOYD trade to shed some cost.

WAS trades: #30 pick
HOU trades: Shane Battier + #14

Houston sacrifices 16 spaces in the draft in order to save $7.4M next year. Battier isn't really needed with Ariza, Buddinger and Jeffries to handle the SF spot.

I really like this deal if we end up with John Wall. Sign JO to a relatively large, one-year deal (say, $8M for one year) as a short term solution at center and we'd run with this lineup:

PG Wall/Livingston
SG Arenas/Young/Ross
SF Battier/Thornton
PF Blatche/Singleton
C O'Neal/McGee

Battier would be the ideal SF to start alongside Arenas and Wall because he'd play D and spread the floor without dominating the ball. Thornton would come off the bench as instant offense to address the offensive void when two or more of Wall/Arenas/Blatche are on the bench.

By next summer, our #14 pick via Houston (hopefully a swing man) will be seasoned enough to replace Young and Battier. And with JO also off the books, we'd have about $25M to use in free agency to go after a center (Horford, Noah, Gasol) and either resign or replace Thornton.

It's a great idea nate, but I'm guessing Morey only makes that deal if we take Jeffries instead of Battier. Would you still do it then?

Probably.

When I first thought of the trade, I assumed that Houston was picking about 20th. I figured taking on Battier's salary was about the right price for moving up from 30 to 20.

I was suprised to see that Houston might pick around 14th. Unfortunately, that made my deal a bit more far-fetched. I don't know if Houston would willingly drop that far in the draft while dumping a pretty decent player in Battier. They might do it for Jeffries though.

I think if Jeffries come back the Wizards pick should be the 2nd(which isn't too much later).

Maybe Houston would rather keep Jeffries since he can also play PF and they need depth there (assuming they use Hill as Yao's backup). I hope so because Battier is EXACTLY the kind of character guy we need in our locker room right now.

I like that one quite a bit aside from the Jermaine O'Neal contract, though at least that was just one year.

I could see Morey being interested if he was excited about some late round guys, and I think he often is, but I would expect him to try and snag both of our late picks.

But yes, the Houston payroll is looking to get a bit hefty and there could be an opportunity.
