No votes for Bill Russell?

55 straight wins and 2 titles. I wouldn't put him over Alcindor or Walton, but he should be mentioned alongside the Robertsons and Maravichs.

Laettner. For some reason he really sticks out to me, partially because most of the other guys mentioned continued their fame and probably extended it in the NBA; Laettner was always a college guy first and foremost. Of course, there are a number of players better than him skill-wise overall, but...

I agree he is being underrated. 2 Titles at San Francisco; averaged a 20/20 over his career in college; and was good enough to make them change the rules for him and Wilt (they were called "Russell's Rules").

Had it been a thread to rank top 3, he'd have been my #3 behind Alcindor and Walton.

Also, it's very telling to me that the guy who led his pro team to 11 titles, is also the only player of that era to lead his college team to 2 titles. (That is unless you give credit to Oscar for leading his team to 2 titles by leaving  )
