Do you think this would happen? He's a great TV analyst, but coaching is where he really excels. I'm sure he misses the game.

Boosters, alums, friends of the program down there in Athens, anti up and get er done. The SEC could use a boost. Bob Knight should be coaching, period.
Jerry Reinsdorf; the undisputed king of allowing his GM's to run amok with unchecked power and ego.

It'd be great for UGA and I would love to see it happen. Bobby is my favorite coach of all-time.
The problem is UGA has yet to call him.

I am not a Knight fan at all but I certainly respect his coaching ability. The only questions for Knight that go to performance on the court are whether he is committed to recruiting and whether he can avoid an embarrassing meltdown. Otherwise, he is a great pick to boost interest in the Bulldogs program and you know ESPN will provide Duke-level *** kissing if he is hired there (at least for a while). Georgia has a great base of HS talent for someone who can keep kids in the state but no has done that in my lifetime. This isn't a bad gamble for Georgia given what level of coach they are likely to attract, IMO.

Bob Knight ia an a-hole. Any self respecting institution would not take him. That said, he is a good coach and a money draw. The temptation would be too great for someone to take him if he wants to coach.
As an analyst I don't think he's anything too special. But at least his voice is recognizable and consequently his opinions are easily attributable.

Re: Bob Knight to Georgia?
I'm not much of a Bob Knight either and if Georgia can find a young solid coach, that would be better than what would certainly just be a few year fix. How long until a)There is a scandal (And as much as I dislike Knight, I KNOW there will be a scandal because the media will want one), or b)he gets burnt out and retires again.
My first thought was also what Atlanta Hawk Fan said. Does he have the dedication to put into recruiting? Is his name enough to draw the best players?
There are some things I do respect about Bob Knight. His unwillingness to cheat, his graduation rate, and his basketball knowledge. That said, I think his cons outweigh his pros - especially at this stage in his career where incoming freshmen would have to wonder who their coach would be by the time they are seniors.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.
