Most Underrated Player

Post#1 » by TheBrothers » Mon Feb 9, 2009 6:36 am

I play in the WCC and I am a Center and a Senior. You don't hear much about me because I do not play for Gonzaga. I will take a guess and say I will be playing in the NBA next season however, and here's why.

In 26 games this season I'm averaging 17.5 points/game, 13.8 boards/game and 2.7 blocks.

I am the best defensive rebounder in the nation, yes better then Blake Griffin. While on the court, I get 35% of the opponents misses.

Who Am I ??

You sir appear to be John Bryant from Santa Clara. You are an underrated player indeed, but I seriously doubt you are playing in the NBA next year. Rebounding in the Big 12 and rebounding in the WCC are not comparable (unless you play Gonzaga every night).

PS: The most underrated player in the country is FSU's own Toney Douglas.

If we're gonna talk underrated let's talk about the REAL top freshman in the country (sorry Greg Monroe and Tyreke Evans). Isaiah Thomas, PG, Washington. I don't think I've heard ESPN so much as even mention his name before. The only thing they know about Washington is Brockman.

Well in 5 big games this year these are his rebounding totals:

Georgia - 13
Arizona - 8
UNLV - 15
Stanford - 22
Gonzaga - 11

I'd say he can play with the big boys

From the ACC there are a ton:

Toney Douglas
Jack McClinton
Danny Green
Trevor Booker
Gani Lawal

I could go on and on...

While I have not heard Thomas's name mentioned, I do not believe that he is the top freshman in the country. In terms of college play, that honor may very well go to Gordon Hayward, who is starting to attract some attention.

The two most underrated players in the country are definitely Devan Downey and Tasmin Mitchell.

I'm going with Tyreke Evans now at Memphis for my freshman of the year. Hayward and Isaiah Thomas also make my first team along with Willie Warren and Al Farouq Aminu. Greg Monroe for honorable mention.

Im going Homer: JR Scottie Reynolds(Villanova). At one point a PG prospect, he along with Donte Cunningham is leading a Villanova Attack and is a dark horse to stealing the Big East tourney. And should they do so, they deserve a top-5 seed in the NCAA'S again and another trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 rounds.

Jay Wright= best thing to happen to Villanova.

Klay Thompson

13 PPG doesn't seem impressive, but he's a freshman in Washington State's ridiculously slow pace. 93% from the line and 43% on 3's, he can really shoot.

I may actually love the Wildcats as much or almost as much as you. But, I must say that Scottie is certainly not underrated. While his stats weren't terrible early in the year, he was getting most of his points off of free throws in end-game situations. Now, he's starting to come around, but the hype train has certainly been around all year.

If we are going to speak of the most underrated player, most would say Dante Cunningham. Still, most people recognize that he is having a great season.

At least amongst Villanova fans, I would say that player is either Shane Clark or Corey Fisher. Most people were fed up with Fisher's antics because he couldn't finish drives. But, now that he can, fans don't realize just how much of an impact he has on the game. I personally feel that he is the most important piece aside from Dante. (or Scottie depending on the day, if he is shooting well)

Second guy is Shane Clark. You never hear about this guy anymore, but he is doing all the little things and can now hit the medium range jumper and picks his spots wisely. He is a fairly efficient player now and his athleticism is starting to shine through post-injury.

Agreed. He is very good and under the radar. I guess I have to pick someone else now that the love has caught up to my boy Toney Douglas.

It's a homer pick, but Delvon Roe is going to be very, very good.

In terms of underrated, I'd throw in Baylor's bigman Rogers & St. Mary's stud Diamon Simpson, these guys haven't really gotten any pub until the NIT games lately.
