Greatest NIT Field Ever?

Post#1 » by Polynice4Pippen » Fri Feb 12, 2010 1:57 am

North Carolina, UCLA, UConn, Louisville, Arizona and possibly Memphis could all be NIT bound. Along with the typically underrated mid majors who barely miss the tournament (possibly Old Dominion and Charlotte), and up and coming major programs like your South Florida's and Arkansas', this could be one of the more fascinating NIT fields, especially now that the seedings and brackets for the NIT actually make some sense.

North Carolina (second favorite team) will be lucky to make the NIT honestly. They just lost Davis for 6 weeks with a broken wrist and now Zeller is out with a stress fracture in his foot. Hopefully they make it to the NIT, but what a hard year.

In name recognition maybe, but not necessary on actual team quality. Also, the NIT was a real deal prior to the mid-70s. Now they are a collection of leftovers.
