Interesting that now he says he's at Michigan State for life. I don't know, if Izzo was this close to leaving I think he'll eventually scratch that itch to coach in the NBA. Maybe after another NCAA title like he said.

I'm surprised that Izzo locked himself in like that. I think that he made the right decision because Cleveland will be a mess if Lebron James doesn't return, but Izzo definitely has what it takes to be a successful coach in the NBA.

I never understood why he would want to coach the Cavs in the first place. As SFWarriors said, they're going to be a mess without LeBron and they're probably not even going to make the playoffs.
IMO, Izzo has a great chance at a title with MSU this year with Kalin Lucas coming back and all the other guys also being a year older. I expect a big year from Korie Lucious and Draymond Green, I'm pretty sure Nix will become a legitimate 15 mpg C that scores in the paint and is a big body on defense and all the other guys like Summers, Lucas, Roe, Allen, etc. aren't going to get worse all of the sudden.
Why screw this up and go to a mediocre NBA team instead?

Because it's not a given Lebron is gone yet. But, he has said he wants a coach with NBA experience, so....

As a Spartan fan, thankful. We've had only two coaches in my lifetime and I'm no spring chicken. He took a program fresh off of losing Respert and Snow. The town wanted him fired after a couple NIT seasons, but he's gone on to create an incredible program. He's got character and talent. Despite having numerous disciples, he's irreplaceable.

Cleveland was an empty cupboard of talent after Lebron left. Good for Izzo that he decided to stay put in MSU. If he had jumped ship, the results could've been pretty bad.
