ABA (Pro) & ACBA (College) Now taking applications
How the ACBA and ABA Work
We use FBB and FBCB
(Please read about why this league is different. Link to board at bottom.)
This league was created to be the most realistic fast break basketball sim league out there. I have spent many months creating rosters, figuring out how to design the league, creating the most realistic and competitive rules possible and making this league one of the best out there. Please look around before you sign up. The GM's and coaches in this league will be held to very high standards.
What makes this league stand out?
-The league begins in 1984 with real pro and college rosters. High school seniors (such as Tim Hardaway and Glen Rice) will be able to be recruited by any college. This means that after the original rosters and once the league begins players could end up with any team that signs them. Not every player will be created as a college player. I looked at games played in the pros, stats and years in the league to decide who to create, however, if you have a favorite player that I did not add please contact me and I will create them. Do not expect newly created players to be very good.
-Players will also be given the free will to declare for the draft whenever they want. Expect players to enter a draft in a year that they did not in real life. Players must play at least one year in college before they go pro. This adds excitement to the league. Most retro leagues have people holding on to and trying to add picks in, lets say, 2003 because they want James, Wade, Bosh ect. . . This will be realistic because you will not know when they will go until they announce it.
-College human coaches play a huge part in the pro league. A college coach can spend cash to keep an underclassman from entering the draft. The playing time and training that they give will have an impact on how a player grows and improves.
-I will know the draft class for the next year before the season. I will announce players declaring
during the season to add some excitement. I will not own a pro team so this really gives no disadvantage. Of course, seniors will obviously be in the draft.
-GM's will be held to a very high standard to prevent any tanking of any kind. They will be expected to fill out depth charts and compete in the league. Here are ways that a GM can be fired:
Winning less than 5 games in a season
Winning less than 10 games in 2 straight seasons
Winning less than 15 games in 3 straight seasons
Winning less than 20 games in 4 straight seasons
Not making the playoffs in 5 straight years
Missing more than 2 depth charts in a season
Sending in a trade that is ridiculous (strongly one sided)
-Recruiting can be much more in depth because all of the college stats and standings will be uploaded. You can track players and try to find hidden gems. Because there are so many players there will be "fake" players in the draft too. These players can also be good players. This adds depth to drafts and give potential for late drafted players to be more important to your team. Too many times do I see drafts where if your don't have the top three picks the draft is a waste of time. Adding depth to the league will allow those teams that are .500 teams to use the draft to improve.
-Salary caps and hard caps will also be in play. The cap will start around what it was in 1985 and will increase as the league goes.
-Trading draft picks will be allowed. I will also allow future picks to be traded. If you make a trade in 1985 for a 1990 pick it will be logged in the draft section and then given to you that year.
-College coaches can coach up to two teams at a time but they must be in different conferences. College coaches CANNOT be a GM in the pro league. If all teams have a GM college coaches will have the ability to get the first shot at moving to the pros.
-Once a college coach is hired they can only change teams at the end of the season. They can only change teams to a school that offers them a job too.
-College college coaches must be active in the offseason. That is when scheduling, assistant hiring, transfers, and recruiting will be done.
-College coaches must have Fast Break College Basketball 2010. If you love FBB and love college basketball then you will love this game anyway. You must also have an e-mail address. I will send the league file, you will make your changes and e-mail it back to me. If you are new to college sims I will be more than willing to help.
The league is created to be fun, realistic and exciting. Activity is what makes or breaks league so I expect people to remain active. I hope that the idea that I have sounds like something that you would be interested in.
