Now that I look at Tennessee's lineup, I see what you mean. I thought they had a lot more than that. Nova's got some talent.

We need to start this board up... it's college basketball season!

Cal with 5 points in the first half against Notre Dame. What the hell were they doing last night out in Orlando?

I hear ya! I have been watching college ball non-stop and doing my amateur scouting. It's a matter of finding interested parties.

There has never really been much college team discussion (historically), which is something I would like to see.

Hopson, Tatum, Goins are experienced enough and have length. They gave notice headaches with their defense, but with the exception of Hopson, none of those three really have NBA aspirations.

I didn't witness it, but I read and saw highlights of that happening. Records are being broken so far this year. DIII had a 7OT game to tie the record.

I can't believe Temple lost to them. Not good for the A10...

jman, what do you think about Memphis? I saw their game against Miami (FL) and was pretty impressed. They have some talent on that roster. Joe Jackson can flat out score, Will Barton looks like a future star, and Witherspoon is a good veteran player who should be a draft pick.

Watched the game against Miami as well. I had seen Joe Jackson play in a high school tournament, so it was interesting to see how he fared against collegiate competition. He seems to be making a pretty seamless transition- he struggled early but got better as the game progressed. For Memphis, I think that it is going to be a learning experience and their team's outlook should change with the ebb and flow of Jackson's progression. Witherspoon appears to be the star of this team and I think he will be drafted this year. I was impressed by Antonio Barton's willingness to take over some scoring duties. Tarik Black appears to be solid inside. Will Coleman needs to step up, and so far he has not. His production on the glass is going to be key. In the contest I saw, Will Barton's offense was virtually non-existent. But, I realize that he has been producing the past few games. Overall, Memphis should demonstrate much improvement over the course of the season, but may struggle early against teams with experienced lead guard play and interior strength.

Also, on my blog, I wrote a season preview for Conference USA that I have yet to publish. (which sort of still reflects my outlook on the team) I'm still editing it a bit, but I will post it in my season preview thread. I review Memphis and pretty much the rest of how I think CUSA will fair.

Is anyone watching this Purdue-Richmond game? I am very impressed by Justin Harper and Richmond. They are really taking it to the Boilermakers.

Yeah I saw it. Huge resume win for Richmond. And Kevin Anderson flat out owned all the Purdue guards. A little bit of A-10 redemption with Xavier, Dayton and Temple all struggling this weekend.

Jimmer Fredette hits the game-winner for BYU to beat St. Mary's for the South Padre Island tourney title.

Caught that ending. If Delevedova was able to maintain his balance, that game would've been tied. Despite the epic nature of that shot, it was a pretty poor decision imo. Such a tough one.

Butler's not gonna have such an easy time this year winning the Horizon Conference.

Right now Florida St. is really playing solid defense on Sullinger with help. We'll see how this lasts.

The only problem right now is that they can't buy a bucket on the offensive end.

I guess Kyrie Irving should've been the first freshman preseason All-American selection and not Harrison Barnes. Kid really put it on Kalin Lucas and Michigan State tonight.

Not sure what to expect from Syracuse this season until they start conference play. Last year they had a strong schedule at the start of the year.

UConn looks like they're back after winning the Maui tourny.

St. Johns really needs to start giving DJ Kennedy the ball. Good things happen when it is in his hands. So far this season it looks like he does not have the touches to be productive. He is in somewhat of a shooting slump, but he rarely touches the ball in comparison with last year.
