Re: College Basketball Game Thread
Faisel Aiden is extremely good right now. Juco transfer brings a tremendous scoring presence off the bench for Washington St. Man has this team lived up to their game plan- they're killing Baylor.
On another note, I am also surprised with Brock Motum, who has played a tremendous game. He can hit jump shots around the key and also slash to the basket. He has played decent defense as well. He's someone to look out for down the road imo.

Pitt sticking it to Kemba and the Huskies early on. They are at home against a young team though.....this should not be underestimated.

Georgetown/St. Johns rocking the Garden like the old days. Between the Knicks and St. Johns resurrections, MSG is a lively place once again. Johnnies up 1 with 2 minutes to go.

And Lavin and the Redmen (Red Storm, whatever) get it done. Hold on for the 3 point win. Great finish in the Garden.

Good to see some life in the mecca of basketball.
In other news, Michigan St. eeks out a win against Northwestern. And, Kentucky defeats Penn by a large margin, after being down by 12 in the first half.

Re: College Basketball Game Thread
Jeez, Northwestern. I pick you as my breakout team for the year and you're on your way to an 0-3 start in the Big 10 after a great pre-conference run. Yeah you had a tough stretch to open conference play at Purdue and at Illinois, and home against Michigan State, but you gotta get one of those games. I think I'll go with Cincinnati in a do over for my breakout team. Mick Cronin bringing back the Huggins days so far. 15-0 now for the Bearcats.

Re: College Basketball Game Thread
I think that that St. John's loss really began their downward trend.
As for the Bearcats, I had an inkling that they would be good, but not this good. With that said, I also thought that UConn would be towards the bottom middle of the pack this year. Take it for what it's worth.
I think that Marquette has underachieved so far, and so has West Virginia. St. John's is meeting expectations. Syracuse has exceeded expectations marginally. And, I think that UConn, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Georgetown have all been very surprising.
I thought Gtown would be horrible because they relied so heavily on Greg Monroe. Louisville lost pretty much everyone a year ago, but somehow they are halfway decent. I expected ND to be good, but not this good. And, Kemba Walker has emerged as a POY candidate, and their freshmen are much better than I expected they would be.
That's the Big East so far. Hopefully, Hazell can come back and Pope can get healthy, and throw a monkey wrench at the current standings.

Not even the next Morrison by the looks of his last few games. You never want to completely discount a talented player like Shurna, but at the same time, I am fairly certain that he will not be drafted this year. (even if he picks up his play in the Big Ten, which I expect him to do)

The college basketball world always seems to shift a bit when Duke loses. Congrats to FSU. Maybe the ACC won't just roll over for the Dookies this season. My Terps gave 'em a game in Cameron Sunday night.

Big Time duel between him and Corey Fisher. Great showing for both of those guys. But yes, Kemba is the national POY in my book.

He can play a good shooter's role but he's terribly limited physically coming into a league where there's a big emphasis on strength and athleticism more than skill so yeah I can see him going undrafted too.
Nice player to watch though and players like him are one big reason I try to watch more college hoops.

Seton Hall really choked against Georgetown. Didn't make free throws when they needed to and collapsed after Herb Pope fouled out.

Looks like UConn may get revenge for the Big East against Tennessee. Team effort by the Huskies.

Re: College Basketball Game Thread
How can a team with as much talent as Baylor look so inept offensively? They've scored just 35 points in 30 minutes of play so far at K-State. K-State is great defensively, yes, but come on Baylor. Put the ball in the basket. And major props to Notre Dame for winning at Pitt. That's a big time performance.

Easy- they have a hole at virtually the most important position in college basketball, the point guard slot.

Jimmer Fredette just going off. BYU up 6 on San Diego State with 8 minutes to play in the second half. Kahwi Leonard playing well despite the flu.
