ESPN Classic

Post#1 » by Philly Fresh » Sat Feb 9, 2008 7:08 pm

ESPN Classic always shows NCAA basketball games, but NEVER have I seen the Fab 5 Michigan team have games on ESPN Classic. With all the hype they had surrounding them during their days, Im sure they must have had classic-worthy games.

I thought they didn't show the old Michigan games because of that money scandal during the Fab 5 years, but if EChild said he saw them, I guess that my guess isn't correct.

Just a guess, but it might have something to do with Michigan being forced to vacate everything they won with the Fab Five thanks to Webber taking money under the table.

I saw a Fab 5 game on like a week ago. They lost to Indiana at the buzzer on an Alan Henderson blocked shot. Only the NCAA acts like those games never happened. Not a single Fab 5 banner hanging from Chrysler Arena in Ann Arbor. All thanks to Ed Martin keeping Chris Webber's pockets fat.

Apparently, Ed Martin never boosted Webber or broke any rules. He used to give money to inner city youth to so they could play basketball. Chris Webber just happened to be one them....and this was before he went to Michigan, or even chose to do so.

Webber never broke any rules -- give me a break. Martin gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to every inner city youth in Detroit. When Webber made a partial repayment of $38,000 to Martin, it was just like all the $38,000 repayments from other inner city youth. Of course, Webber was paid over $250,000 by Martin, a known Michigan booster.

Martin admitted to paying over $600,000 to four Michigan players.

Why would anyone think this would be a problem for the University?

(BTW - It is right that the payments were made to Webber before he chose to go to Michigan - influencing the decision to get someone to go to Michigan is kind of the point, though. It would be more interesting to see how many kids Martin paid $200,000+ who went to Duke, UCLA or somewhere else and how many of those kids he continued to pay after they made their college choice.)
