they seem to get one or two big time recruits and trash around them

buddinger and bayless are flawed but still pretty good, wise is ok, hill has potential but is inconsistent and eveyone else sucks..

they also seem to ignore trying to recruit big men anymore..

Simple. Lute has lost it. He's no longer a good coach. He can pull in kids like the best in the business, but his teams have no chemistry and no passion. Kevin O'Neill isn't that great either.

Arizona is a bad team. They were bad three years ago and will continue to be so until the program undergoes a major overhaul.

Speaking of, if they make it into the NCAA Tournament over my Ducks, that will be the biggest shaft of any. The Ducks swept the season series and have more quality wins, plus a better conference record.

I see Arizona much in the same situation that IU was in during Bob Knight's last 5 years here (well, other than the assaults of course).

While both are amazing, legendary coaches, they seem to have fallen about 5 years behind the times. I'd give Lute the benefit of the doubt moreso than Bob because of Lute dealing with his wife's cancer a few years ago and now with the whole "family situation" that caused him to take this year off.

But it's a similar thing in my eyes. A legendary coach has held on with his same style for a few years too long. It happened at Purdue as well with Gene Keady. They need to be a little more flexible and change their coaching style a little with the times.

That's the key IMO, I always look at Arizona as being more soft than most other teams, they just need a big bodied banger to go with their perimeter talents.

A lot of these guys drafted are athletes and not players. They do not have a good feel for the game and for team. Simular to the Florida Gators in the Lee, Walsh, Roberson era. All those guys were highly rated, but that did not make a good team. You can't just recruit by using Rivals as a cheat sheet.

i dont think coaching style is the main problem lute rusn a pretty free open offense that is fun to allot of big time players

Under Olson, Arizona no longer plays any defense whatsoever. It's kind of amazing to watch a team as talented as they typically are have the same exact problem every single year for 5 years running. I just don't think Lute sees it. He's just locked into doing things the way he does them.
