i havent heard much about the class comin in except for al-farouq aminu because i live in georgia. he's a tremendous scorer and will probably re-ignite a struggling wake forest team next year. i see him as a future lottery pick and almost identical luol deng. he would fit in great with golden state, minnesota, or new jersey

Ill quickly as best as i can go over the top 10

1. Center BJ Mullens.. Stands a legit 7-1 265. Great size, from what i read he is a very good offensive player... will never be a star defensively.
2. pg/sg JRue Holiday. Combo gaurd will probably be playing the 2 next year at UCLA due to collison staying. He's supposedly the best Defender that scouts have seen in years coming out of highschool.

3. SG Demar Derozan he's 6'6 so already has great size for the NBA 2and could potentially be able to play the 3. He is regarded as the best athlete in the class.

4. PG Brandon Jennings- He's extremely quick, flashy. Very good scorer however he tends to dominate the ball.

5. SF Scotty Hopson- a recent riser on rivals new list. He's a tremendous scorer who should be an impact go to scorer next year at Tennessee

6. Tyreke Evans- A pg in a SG body... a little different then the norm. He's hyped up the butt. Good range on his shot. Should fit perfectly into the Memphis offensive system where they drive and pass.

7. Al-Farouq- Aminu- ^^ exactly what he said up above. He has legit NBA small forward size and looks like he could be the next Luol Deng

8. Greg Monroe- PF- former #1 he has the skills of Lamar Odom, but with more talent... however just like odom he usually dosent do it, instead tends to allow others to do the work

9. Samardo Samuels- Pf- Think Tyler Hansbrough.. he's a bully in the post and will run you over. He's got the same stocky build

10. Willie Warren- SG he has greatt scoring and penetration ability. Griffin and Warren should form a great duo at Oklahoma

I wouldn't rank them in that order, but overall, very good assessment.

Im using the rivals rankings... not my personal ones.

and i thought u meant who would be freshmen in college in 2010

OK sooo College freshmen in 2010- Rivals list and summaries i guess

The list was just updated within the last week

1. John Wall (summary from rivals) - Blazingly fast with the basketball, Wall is an impeccable ball handler with court savvy. The right hander has a penchant for beating defenders with his left hand and can then counter with a terrific left to right behind the back dribble. Finding teammates on the move is his forte, but he is also an excellent finisher at the rim. His jumper is still a work in progress, but it is good enough to keep the defense honest.. He's big at 6'4 185

2. Xavier Henry- 6'6 210 SG. Great Size. Is a lefty. He is a very good shooter. Very good athlete. he'll either be at Kansas or Memphis.

3. Derrick Favors- 6'9 220 PF- Plays bigger then he is. Plays close aroudn the basket. He's a very good rebounder... maybe better on the offensive boards. muscles through defenders.

4. Renardo Sidney- 6'10 230 PF- Former #1. He is BIG. as in he often has problems with his weight and conditioning. However he is a great scorer and rebounder. Absolutely dominated the class below hims #1 for around 30 and 10 while holding him to like 2 and 5. Will probably be playing at USC or UCLA. Basically if he can controll his fluxuating weight and his emotional issues he is the #1 player in the class.

5. John Henson- 6'10- New Riser onto the top 10 list. He's very lenghty and skilled big man. Very good shot blocking ability. He's very skinny though. Think Brandan Wright with a better and more advanced offensive game.

6. Milton Jennings' 6'9 220. He pulls his opponents away from their comfort zone as he's a serious inside/outside threat. The outside threat makes up for his lack of size. Dosent rebound as well playing out moreso on the perimeter. He's already commited to play for Clemson

7. Lance Stephenson- 6'5 195 SG. Im sure uve heard of him. The top player in NYC, has a mini tv show on the internet? His nickname is Born Ready. He has an NBA body NOW as a highschool junior. He's got incredible all aroudn game. Power inside game, good shot. He is a great defender... when he wants to be.

8. Daniel Orton 6'10 260 C- the top center on the list. He's shown he's very commited to getting better. Lost 20 pounds since last year. Very good defensively and works more out of the high post rather then the low post. Has very good spin moves and left jump hooks.

9. Demarcus Cousins- 6'9 250 PF- A very big bodied powerforward. He's alrady commited to UAB. He's said to make his teammates better. He can do anything he wants to in the paint. He's a very good passer for his size, especially his outlet passing. Big impact college player right out the gate

10. Kenny Boynton- 6'2 pg/sg-- Most likely he'll be a great college player but nothign relaly special in the pros. HE has amazing scoring ability, but he is a shooting gaurd in a point gaurds body. Ive watched him 3 times live and theres really no stopping his Outside shot as it is money, even contested. However if you put a bigger defender on him you can limit his penetration. Defensively he'll handle his own but i dont think he'll ever be known for it.

Hope this helps... not too familiar with some of the newcomers to the list though like Henson, Jennings, and Orton. did the best i could haha

Henson has drawn comparisons to Kevin Garnett, Kevin Durant and Brandan Wright. The sky the limit for this kid. In terms of who will be the best NBA player IMHO it is a two way race between Favors and Henson.

From what I have seen here is how I would rank the top 15 in terms of NBA prospects:

1. Derrick Favors 6'9" 220 lbs. PF/C
2. John Henson 6'11" 200 lbs. SF/PF
3. Renardo Sidney 6'9" 240 lbs. PF
4. John Wall 6'4" 175 lbs. PG
5. Xavier Henry 6'6" 210 lbs. SF
6. Lance Stepheson 6'5" 205 lbs. SG/SF
7. Dexter Strickland 6'3" 175 lbs. SG/PG
8. Demarcus Cousins 6'10" 245 lbs. PF/C
9. Kenny Boynton 6'2" 185 lbs. SG
10. Milton Jennings (I haven't seen him play so I may be underrating him.) 6'9" 200 lbs. PF
11. Daniel Orton 6'10" 260 lbs. C
12. Dominic Cheek 6'5" 180 lbs. SF
13. Jordan Hamilton 6'7" 200 lbs. SF
14. Hollis Thompson 6'6" 180 lbs. SF
15. Abdul Gaddy 6'3" 170 lbs. PG

This is a VERY VERY deep class.

There is no way any of those guys eclipse Lance in terms of talent. The guy is hands down the best player in his class imo. Still, his attitude might dock him a couple spots down the list.

There are so many other things you have to factor in though. Team play, potential, defense intangibles.

I agree you would be hard pressed to find a more talented player than Lance Stepheson in the 2009 class. But I have him ranked lower than others because others have proven to be better teamates, put forth more effort, and would make their teams better from day 1.

I also think Tyreke Evans is the most talented player in the 2008 class but I would still take Samardo Samuels, Jrue Holliday, BJ Mullens and Brandon Jennings over him.

I think anyone in my top 15 has a solid shot at becoming at the very least role players in the NBA, with alot of the guys in my top 10 all have All Star potential.

I would say that Favors, Henson, Sidney, Wall, Henry, and Stepheson have superstar potential if they put their mind to it. With Favors and Henson possessing the most.

Strickland, Cousins and Boynton can all be VERY good NBA players.

i dont think youve ever seen Boynton... he plays in our schools district. we beat them 1 time in the regular season out of 2, and beat them twice, once in districts and regionals. Eliminating him. He is another SG in a PG body and i have seen NOTHING that says he wants to change his play to become a pg , which he will have to do. At best hes a moderately improved version of Eddie House. I DO NOT see him being VERY GOOD, most likely a backup 2 in my mind. Or a scoring burst off the bench

I would definatly agree, with the exception of DeRozan, Jennings, and Holliday (I tend to like Jrue more than others) from this 2008 class, I don't see any player that has the right attitude (now) or potential to be an All Star.

In the 2009 class it is filled with future NBA players at all positions.

To the poster who disagreed about Boynton, you have obviously seen him play more than I have, but the kid has one of the most polished offensive games I have seen in some time. Reminds me of a Louis Williams that may take some time developing but should get hold the NBA life at the next level. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

^^^
I agree with that list and also think that BJ mullens because of his size has a future in the nba with his given skill set, which i still think is not advanced as past bigmen, however Mullens is even bigger and quite athletic

And Im not taking anything away from boyntons offensive game, however he is generously listed at 6'2 and his body would be better suited to play the point if he wants to make it in the NBA. He is an amazing player at the high school level and i dont doubt his ability to play in college. You have to be etremely skilled and lucky to to make it at 6'2 in the NBA as a SG.

Derrick Favors should be the best player out of this class and hopefully he commits to Georgia Tech.

The kid has UNLIMITED potential to the truest sense. Has the athleticism of a healthy Amare Stoudimire, but approaches the game like Tim Duncan. From all accounts I have heard he is an all american grounded kid as well. He is a special talent.

He is going to be crazy in college. I can see Derrick scoring 30 points a game depending on the team he goes to.
