UNC Asheville: Kenny George likely out for the year

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Sep 16, 2008 2:22 am

You all know Kenny George. The tallest person ever to play Division-1 basketball, the UNC Asheville center is 7-foot-9, 370 pounds, and is only nominally good at the sport despite his incredible size. Part of that size means being naturally disposed, whether willingly or not, to play basketball for a living. The other part, the ugly part (if there is anything "pretty" about being so freakishly large) is that injuries are much more likely and, once suffered, much more difficult.

So it goes for George. The big fella had his second foot surgery this week and looks like he won't play much this year, if at all.

I never really expected him to actually make it in the league, but this could be the harshest blow to his chances. Injuries are commonplace for guys with his size and body.

He is much more skilled then most give him credit for. But his athletic weaknesses are huge.

The surgeries were a little harsher then reported.. He had parts of his right foot amputated after an infection this summer.

Just heard. Huge setback for his basketball career, but I simply hope that George can get healthy and get his life back on track.
