Memphis Tigers Better Than Last Year?

Post#1 » by bpayton34 » Thu Mar 19, 2009 5:14 pm

I have heard a lot of talk lately and a lot of mixed opinions. Many people have told me that the Memphis Tigers are a better this year than last year. I don't know how I feel about that comment but I though I would throw it out there. I want to hear your opinions. Is this years team better than last year?

Hear is what Derrick Rose had to say about that same question.

Defensively they're a little better. Offensively not even close.

Overall definitely a notch below.

hahaha, i hope they lose. it would kill my brackets, but i cant stand that used car salesman calipari. his success does not match his poor coaching ability.

They're extremely lucky some dude (Robert Sallie) who scores 4.5 PPG on the year has 29 at the moment. I hope they lose too.

It makes sense though... the Matadors are basically giving them the 3-pointers, since Memphis is one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country.

Sallie isn't a huge part of their scoring normally, but he's gotten a lot of open shots and is one of their few good shooters. I think they'll pull out this game, but it's definitely exposed some of their weaknesses.

Memphis is definitely not better than last year... how could they be, when they lost three guys to the NBA?

It might appear like they're better, because I believe they had more wins this year. But when you look at their schedule, they lost to pretty much every good team they played: Xavier, Georgetown (well, Georgetown WAS good), and Syracuse. Their only win worth mentioning was Gonzaga on the road.

I think Memphis will continue to get exposed like they were yesterday, and they better not overlook a tough Maryland team tomorrow.

What Memphis has going for them this year over last year is their size.
Tyreke Evans is the shortest guy at 6'6"

And their defense is better this year.

Offensive they're not as good, though.

100 plus points allowed... I don't think anyone saw that coming.

Anyways... they are out.

Memphis is for sure not better than last year. Memphis is gonna be sick next year DeMarcus Cousins is going to memphis next year.

He's gonna be playing in the 2009 Nike Hoops Summit in Portland 7 PM! That game starring all the young best USA players is gonna be so sick.
