Kentucky is the best team in the country

Post#1 » by Dedicated_76ers_fan » Sat Jan 2, 2010 9:11 pm

Their front-court is big, physical and strong, and they have a great back-court. I can't count how many deflections this team has gotten. The difference in level is so obvious, Pitino isn't calling any timeouts, he knows they can't win.

I still like Kansas. Cole Aldrich's defense and shot blocking will negate Patterson/Cousins/Orton inside. But Wall is special, the biggest talent in college basketball by far. Still, Kansas has more overall perimeter talent and firepower than Kentucky. Would love to see them meet up in the Final 4, that's for sure.

Kansas has everything you look for in a champion. Good senior leadership, a great point guard, a go to scorer, very good post defense, and a lot of depth. I am sticking with my Kansas pick.

My final four picks of Kansas, Purdue, Villanova, and Kentucky is looking pretty promising right now.

Kentucky is not the best team in the country. John Wall is the best incoming freshman and thus makes Kentucky a top-5 team.

Kansas is by far the best team in the nation.

Nice job jumping on that Nova tip. We had a close one the other day against Marquette, but we really looked poised in the final minute even though they were on fire the entire game. We need to step up our team defense into lockdown mode, especially inside. But, as of now, we seem to have found a groove with the return of Reggie Redding.

The best team, to answer the original question, is probably either Texas or Kansas. (with the outside shot to Purdue) UK is up there certainly and definitely has a chance to win it all this year as their freshman keep gaining experience.

Im sorry, I LOVE their athleticism and their height and the mismatches they create. They just have to shoot better.

+1111
What separates those three teams from UK is their defense (though Kentucky is also excellent defensively, those three are just ELITE!). They play aggressive, tough, in your face-style perimeter defense, and have defensive anchors in the paint (Aldrich, Pittman to some extent and Johnson).
Kansas is my #1.

I think Kansas has to be the favorite. UK is outstanding this season and is the most talented team, IMO (i.e., if you could take any teams roster and play with it for the next 5 years I would definitely want UK's). They just don't have the experience or maturity that a team like Kansas has. After Kansas, I like UK's chances to compete with anyone but they aren't going to be consistent enough at this stage of the game to win the rest of their matchups, IMO. They were lucky not to pick up an L before the SC loss, but with more maturity they should get more consistency. Cousins has already made serious strides this year and looks as dominant a big man as anyone in the country. His per minute numbers are ridiculous.

Cousins is the best player on Kentucky. I started watching their games because of all the John Wall hype, but I quickly turned my focus to the big kid. He's an amazing talent. The highest per college basketball has seen in 8 years and he's doing this as a freshman.

2010 KU talent rivals Michigan's Fab Five.

Cousins has been the best player over the last 10 games or so without a doubt. Wall was the best for the early part of the season and has struggled (relatively) of late as teams went to zone defenses to take his penetration away. As teams start to sag more on Cousins, we should see the game open up again more for Wall and Bledsoe.

i got kansas 1 (did preseason, hasnt changed).. also nova/cuse 2 n 3 (not who is which yet they have yet to match up), then kentucky 4 come tourney time.. teams with freshmen like that scare me, even though one is the obvious #1 pick and the other is early lotto as well (not to mention bledsoe).. obviously they got some vets like patterson but the overall lack of experience usually hurts teams come tourney time

I don't know about the young player think. Cuse and Carmelo won Syracuse's only championship under Boehim and Ohio State made the finals with a trio of talented freshmen. It will be exciting to see what happens regardless.

I hope Wall stays a another year, he could really use it. I know he won't, but young players don't see that the NBA isn't going anywhere! It will still be there next season.

ohio state lost though, and the cuse is one occasion in what, 20years?

look throughout the history of the tourney, almost every single winner has had a veteran core, rarely will a team with 3 out of 4 of their best players being freshmen win it all.. im not saying they cant, but experience is so huge in the tourney..

wall is an exception.. one more year at kentucky wont do much for him.. hes plenty good enough to be in the league right now let alone wait another year.. its guys like favors imo thatd benefit staying..

and the nba might not be going anywhere, but the 1st pick is guaranteed like 10 million dollars (before all the team options come in).. who knows what could happen that second year (freak injury,etc)..
