Yaroslavs1fan's Mock Draft - UPDATED 5/17/09
Only Lottery so far... (order with random lottery)
1. Sac kings: PF Blake Griffin - enough said
2. LA Clips: PG Ricky Rubio - already tried to trade baron, BPA, biggest need imo.
3. Wash Wiz: C Hasheem Thabeet - need a reliable big defensive prescence. Haywood was injured a lot this year, can he really be relied upon + thabeet makes an immediate impact.
4. OKC Thunder: SG James Harden - need a second pure scorer to Durant. BPA imo.
5. Minn T'Wolves: PG Brandon Jennings - they need a true pg and jennings is that. he will impress in workouts and make this pick a no-brainer.
6. Memphis Griz: PF Jordan Hill - need a PF, best pf available.
7. GS Warriors: SF/SG Demar DeRozan - Another athletic, high potential wing for this running team with no direction.
8. NY Knicks: PG/SG Stephen Curry - the knicks bring in a great shooter/scorer that fits very well into their system and helps with the recruitment of LBJ in 2010.
9. Toronto Raptors: SF Earl Clark - tough break with DeRozan going 2 picks b4, the raps take the next best sf.
10. Milwaukee Bucks: PG Ty Lawson
11. NJ Nets: SF James Johnson - called this first, still sticking to it.
12. Indy Pacers: SG Gerald Henderson
13. Charlotte Bobcats: SG Wayne Ellington - UNC sharpshooter for MJ (UNC also...), ellington will move up as a result of others falling due to measurements and his being correct.
14. PHX Suns: PG Jonny Flynn - good pg for their system and is not very TO prone which will make him a good replacement for Steve Nash.
What do u think?

DeRozan would be a decent pick for the Warriors, but I'd much rather have Tyreke Evans (since he's still on the board when we pick).

If the Wolves take Jennings, I'll assume they have no brain, that's correct.
Wolves need a PG with size, who can play defense, and run an offense. Jennings likes his own shot, can get to the cup, and when he does pass, he's only interested in the flashy SportsCenter quality passes. Not what the Wolves need.
Tyreke Evans is the choice for the Wolves just due to size and ability to get to the cup and dish to open teammates. He forces the defense to collapse. Mike Miller and Randy Foye will be burying shots next year.

I agree with the concept, but I think Harden is the guy they should grab. He is a SG with PG skills who would be an ideal fit with Foye.

Re: Yaroslavs1fan's Mock Draft - 4/12/09
In a perfect world, Harden would grade out at 6'5" with a good reach, and better athleticism than he looks to have. Maybe it's just the stupid t-shirt he wears that makes him look chunky, I don't know and will never understand that. I HATED playing in a t-shirt. But can Harden run an offense? Is he a Joe Johnson or Brandon Roy clone? Then sure, but if not, then no. Randy Foye can't run an offense. He's an attacker and a shooter, that's it. He's more like a D-Wade type that looks for his own shot, but will get assists because he can pass out of penetration.
Foye can't defend SGs, so we need a big PG who can defend them.

You just explained Evans, so I fail to see why you are so in love with him.

Because Evans is 6'6", or a hair under, and Foye is closer to 6'3". Foye can't defend 2's, and is extremely inconsistent and 25. Evans can defend 2's, is more athletic, and is 20(?). Evans has also shown dynamic big gurad mentality, kind of like a Roy, Johnson, or Kobe. Obviously not on their level yet, if ever, but I'd rather take the chances on Evans becoming great, which I think he will, then to continuously be let down by Foye's 20 point game, then 10 point game.

Still hate Brandon Jennings in a Wolves uniform.

Why would the Raptors take Clark over Evans?

Still can't see the Warriors taking an all-potential SG/SF, especially with Evans still on the board.

I don't hate Brandon Jennings, but I have my reservations.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.
