DB's Mock (3-20-11)

Post#1 » by king125 » Mon Mar 21, 2011 3:12 am

Cavs: Irving is the obvious choice. Cleveland gets 2 picks in this draft inside the top 10 so they will be looking for a nice combo. Irving has the tools to be a great PG and is already been said to be in Clevelands radar if they have the first pick.

Wolves: Barnes. Minnesota is actually not too far from being a decent team. Although they have bigger needs at C and PG, their depth and talent on the wing is inadequate and I dont see them reaching for a Euro C or a PG like Knight or Walker with this early of a pick. Barnes has the "potential" to be a superstar and will fit nicely on a team with Love, W. Johnson, and maybe Rubio someday. Beasley to the bench or on the block?

Kings: Williams. The Kings need an upgrade at SF bad. Neither Garcia or Casspi is the answer at this position and getting someone as consistent and efficient as Williams will be great for them. Some say Williams is a PF but IMO he will be able to play both PF/SF but will excel at SF. He is too small to be effective as a full time 4. However he is a great rebounder and shooter and will matchup better with 3's in the NBA. He will be a great compliment to the rebuilding Kings and Cousins, Evans, and Thornton.

Wizards: Sullinger. Not only is he the best guy available for the Wiz, the Wiz is probably the best place available for him. With John Wall he will have a very good career. He has solid game, and will probably go on to be a 20/10 guy and an AllStar. Couldnt be a better fit for both the player and the team.

Toronto: P. Jones. The Raptors need to take a chance and Perry Jones might end up the best player in this draft. He has some development needed to see max potential, but the Raptors are in need of a freakish athlete. Toronto has a ways to go before they are competitive so they have the time for Jones to become what he can be. Almost picked Kanter, but I dont see them passing up on Jones.

Utah: Vesely. With Kirlenko headed to NJ (haha my guess) they will need to replace him with a solid player who can play both the 3 and 4. The Jazz have other needs too (SG), but Vesely will be a great pick and fit on this team.

Detroit: Kanter. Detroit needs some size and will take a chance on Kanter in this draft. He will actually match up pretty well long term with Greg Monroe. Kanter could be gone at 5 with Toronto but if he is left on the board they will take him. Their frontcourt is weak and he will help immediately.

Cleveland: T.Jones. His stock has been falling as of late but he has been at odds with his coach and playing slightly injured. He would be a great rebuilding piece to pair with Irving. He has great size and talent and under coach Byron Scott he should excel if he is pushed.

Milwaukee: Burks. With the Bucks having the worst offense in the league they need to add some scoring, especially from the 2. Burks will play well alongside Jennings and Bogut, and even though their might be more talented players available (Euro Centers), they will draft a serious need. Also might draft Leonard.

Charlotte: Leonard. Gerald Wallace junior. Fits a need, and should be able to contribute right away. A solid overall game, he will be a great piece in the rebuild.....again.

So Cleveland gets Irving and T. Jones with an option of Burks still on the board.
Can we go ahead and make this one official now? :D

1. Minnesota - Kyrie Irving
even though they have Rubio, they will not pass up Irving. Look for both Rubio and Flynn to be on the trading block

2. Cleveland - Derrick Williams
in a 2 player draft, they obviously take Williams. Will make an immediate impact on the team and will be the ROY if he doesnt get hurt.

3. Raptors - Valanciunas
The Raps need a C and although this guy is a project, their team is far away from being competitive. A Valanciunas/Davis frontcourt looks good long term. Look for Bargnani to be on the trading block, possibly even traded before the draft.

4. Wizards - Enes Kanter
Kanter is a beast and will keep the Wiz moving in the right direction. With John Wall as your QB, this guy is going to have a great career.

5. Kings - Kemba Walker
Even though their backcourt seems set with Evans/Thornton/Udrih, Kings will pick BPA. Walker is that guy and will be a great compliment and scorer off the bench.

6. Jazz (from NJ) - Alec Burks
The Jazz are in desperate need of a 2 guard and this guy might be the most underrated player in the lottery. This teams young core will be scary.

7. Pistons - Brandon Knight
The Pistons will not pay the money Stuckey will want and instead draft a super talented PG in his place. A Monroe/Knight core is a great place to start the rebuild.

8. Cavaliers (from LAC) - Motiejunas
With a full rebuild in place I see them trading Varajo and bringing in Motiejunas. Insane potential and this guy will be ready to compete around the same time the Cavs are ready too as well.

9. Bucks - Kawhi Leonard
Leonard is the BPA and will upgrade the Bucks in a position they need help in. This guy is an all a round baller who will help this team be a playoff contender.

10. Bobcats - Jones
Jones has a lot of potential and the Bobcats will be lucky he slip to 10.

11. Warriors - Vesely
This guy will fit perfectly in the Warriors style of play.

12. Jazz - Fredette
just makes too much sense

If the Kings choose Walker over Knight I'm going to be more than diappointed. I see no chance in us picking Walker over Knight. Also I can't see Vesely slipping that far.
