Top 20 Mock Draft

Post#1 » by ChrisTheFuturePaul » Wed Jun 6, 2012 10:15 am

Here goes nothin! I've commented on a few mocks so would appreciate feedback on mine, will probably change a bit after combine and more leaked news. But I wanna share my thoughts now lol.

1. New Orleans Hornets— Anthony Davis

BPA + Position of Need.

2. Charlotte Bobcats— Thomas Robinson

I think he fits with Biyombo, he's tryna show his range off right now, think he'll be a great pick n roll/pop guy as well as develop some face-up iso, rebounding translates well and hes proven in that aspect of his game.

3. Washington Wizards— Bradley Beal

Fits their needs nicely, can work off the ball well, compliments their cornerstone in Wall. Finishes with contact and on the break.

4. Cleveland Cavaliers— Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

If hes as hard working as they say he is then Byron Scott will love him, I'm a big fan of Alonzo Gee but I think he and MKG can co-exist on the wings.

5. Sacremento Kings— Harrison Barnes

Position of Need, possibly BPA, I think Barnes could fit in nicely with this Sacramento core.

6. Portland Trailblazers— Andre Drummond

Honestly I could see Portland trading both their picks for "sure things" since they have a lot of young guys already. But either Lillard or Marshall here is a reach and either may be available at #11. Drummond could be a major bust, but hes still the top C prospect.

7. Golden State Warriors— Jeremy Lamb

Lamb is too exciting to pass up for Golden State. Klay may become a SF over time given his size is adequate and hes not particularly quick for SG. Lamb / Klay / Jefferson as a 3 man rotation on the wings really works for me, Rush can become a trade piece or minor minutes man.

8. Toronto Raptors— Perry Jones III
Perry has fallen into an "underrated" category for me. I see him as an NBA SF with the length to bother some of the taller wings in the league, he has solid handles and I believe will find his range in the NBA within a year or two. Combined with his athletic gifts he's a top prospect in this draft. DeRozen should stick to SG, Perry is the Raps SF of the future.

9. Detroit Pistons— John Henson

Detroit wants him IIRC and he should still be on the board.

10. New Orleans Hornets— Kendall Marshall

Terrific passer, some say Lillard is the better fit next to Gordon but I don't think it's wise to have Gordon as the only dribble penetration guy on the roster. He will need to develop a reliable jumper but I think his court vision, floor general and creativity are rare and underrated talents in this draft.

11. Portland Trailblazers— Jared Sullinger{/b}

IMO he's BPA at this spot and I could see Portland trading him with a S&T Ray Felton for a PG they like (assuming they don't like Lillard, I dont like the fit personally.)

[b]12. Milwaukee Bucks— Meyers Leonard

Center is such a position of need for Milwaukee, it's hard to see them not drafting Leonard or Zeller, I'm gonna tip Leonard for his greater upside and athletic ability, something the Bucks need a little more of. I could see them doing something crazy here too in preparation for moving Jennings or Monta, perhaps Ross, Waiters, Lillard go here.

13. Phoenix Suns - Damian Lillard

Lillard's slide stops at Phoenix, I really like Arnett Moultrie here too though. Hopefully 1 year behind Nash will be enough to give Lillard the insight into being a floor general he needs.

14. Houston Rockets- Tyler Zeller

Houston grabs a backup C knowing that the 76'ers need some height too, waits for #16 to address other needs.

15. Philadelphia 76ers- Terrence Ross

I like Terrence Jones here too but chose Ross because his value is climbing pretty quickly, very smooth shooter, athletic. I can see Evan Turner replacing Iggy at SF in a trade that secures Phili a big man, Ross will slide in at SG.

16. Houston Rockets- Dion Waiters

I see Kevin Martin and Kyle Lowry being packaged and sent off, Courtney Lee is boarderline starter material thus far so bringing in Dion will give them another option at SG. Has a good bulk to his frame, decent midrange game, should be a dynamic player.

17. Dallas Mavericks- Terrence Jones

Dallas will draft a winner IMO, Terrence could be BPA at this point too. Dallas is relatively weak at SF and this could give them some Dirk / Marion / Jones frontcourt time which could be a nice experiment.

18. Minnesota Timberwolves- Austin Rivers

Admittedly Rivers could go a lot higher, but his slide stops to fill a position of need at Minnesota.

19. Orlando Magic- Arnett Moutrie

With Ryno's future unclear and Orlando's frontcourt lacking serious depth Mountrie makes a lot of sense here.

20. Denver Nuggets— Royce White

I'll believe the news that Denver is aiming up at him for now. Harkless could be another option.

OK, tell me what ya think?

Realistic for the most part, but I don't really see the Blazers taking 2 bigs if they keep their picks. I think they'd make a play at Lillard if he is still there at 11.

After the combine showing, and possible 'promise,' Lillard might be the Blazers pick at #6.

There are many more quality big men in this draft than quality PGs. I think they take the stud PG at 6, and hope for Leonard, Zeller, Sullinger, or BPA big at #11.

Lillard
Matthews
Batum
LMA
#11 pick

I also see Waiters going to Toronto at #8. It had to be them who promised Waiters at the combine. I can't see him ditching the combine from a Suns promise.

Nice effort but I think Barnes will go at 4 and MKG at 5.

It's likely Waiters as a promise from Toronto and Lillard would not get past Portland
at 11. As good a mock as there is for I really like Marshall at 10 as a great fit if they
pass on Sullinger.
