Too many red flags on the character side. My out of the box prediction is Anderson. Totally fits the Presti profile and is exactly what their starting lineup needs at SG.

I've heard and read that Oubre is beyond confident and some wonder how well he will take the instruction and feedback necessary to achieve his considerable potential. This was the big issue at KU. Whether or not Self "straightened him out" remains to be seen.

For example, compare this element of Oubre's attitude to Anderson's, who realistically compares himself to Danny Green. Who is a really good NBA player but one who has worked hard to get to where he's at. A very mature, thoughtful reference. On the other hand, Oubre says he's going to be better than Butler, Leonard & Harden. Great if that reflects reality, but it clearly does not at this point of Oubre's career. Not even close. And that's not such a great place to be if it turns out Oubre is all about collecting lottery money and thinking his **** don't stink.

While it's true Oubre was able to eventually get on the court at KU, Self was required to send the kid a huge message. He tried harder on defense, but still spaced out on defense periodically. And he never did learn to use his opposite hand going to the hole. Which a lot of guys learn to do in junior high. Makes you wonder how much Oubre is committed to getting better as opposed to relying on his considerable natural gifts. Which won't be so considerable against NBA grownups. Again, compare to Anderson, who has already demonstrated the capability of improvement. Basically went from being a crap 3pt shooter to being a good one. Lots of articles detailing how he did that. Continually working on your game. It's what it takes to become anything in the NBA. So while Oubre is younger, and conventional wisdom grants younger players a higher potential upside, I would question that with regards to Oubre.

Having stated all this, who knows? These are kids. Lots of room for error in these opinions and evaluations. But in the end, you've got to make a pick when it's your turn. And this kind of stuff matters a lot to some. Especially Presti. My guess is that he gives Oubre a pass.

Ehhh, that feels like much ado about nothing to me. Oubre was a team player willing to do the dirty work at Kansas and improved greatly from the beginning of the year to the end.

I think there is a pretty high likelihood that passing on Oubre to reach for Anderson would end up with OKC getting egg on their face. Everything about Oubre's game screams that it is a better fit in the more up and down style of the NBA.

Ya, there's always that perspective. It's why pretty girls, even the bitchy ones, always get asked out. And Oubre certainly has talent, length and athleticism. Anyway, we shall see soon enough. For Oubre, he just needs one team to feel that way about him.

As for Anderson, why don't you think he's a worthy selection? To me it seems he's the total 3&D package... and that's worth a lot in today's NBA. Especially to the notSonics. That's exactly the guy they need.

I think #14 is just a bit early for a guy who is likely limited to being a role player (though very possibly a really good role player) at the NBA level. There will be guys available at #14 with all-star potential.

Loving the Wolves getting both Towns and Alexander in your last mock.

Will take and run.
