Unfortunately I had a much better mock made with notes on why the team is going to draft player X, what their pros/cons are, what NBA player I compare them too etc, but I was about 90% done it and then my power went out and lost all my progress. I'll start with a basic mock with just my NBA comparisons, but maybe when I'm more motivated again I'll expand and re-create what I almost finished in the first place
Beside the draft pick I will add what I feel like is their positional ranking in relation to the rest of the class, and their overall ranking.

Can any moderators please move this into the Mock draft subcategory? Just noticed I didn't put it there

But Zach Collins might sue you for defamation of character for the Leonard comp and for drafting him after Kennard.

Magic should go issac at 6 who's got more upside and is a beast defender. Id go giles at 25 because Giles provided he can stay healthy is a difference maker and is well worth the gamble

I don't deny Isaac's upside, but I'm not sure about the fit. Isaac is going to be a PF in this league, that's where his offensive skill-set can be best used, but Aaron Gordon seems to be their PF of the future.
The reason I have the Magic taking a PG at #25 is because they are missing out on both DSJ/Fox with their #6 pick, that team desperately needs a PG prospect.

Yeah the comparison is a little lazy, I concede. Mainly just that both are these 7 foot bigs without substantial wingspans. Leonard wasn't a 3pt shooter in College, and Collins wasn't really either (shot 45% but on very low volume (0.5 3PA/game). I think much like Leonard was, Collins will be developed into a stretch 5 which I fear will take away from the parts of his game which are really promising
I have Kennard being drafted early and before a lot of the Center prospects because this class is very thin at SG, especially those who are elite 3pt shooters. Shooting is always a good thing to draft, every team seems to need it

Evans isn't what I would call a good pg prospect. His below average athleticism for his size suggest he will be a bust.
Every player on the magic should be available for trade. Gordon isn't going to stop people from taking bpa. There's also talk of issac eventually becoming a center where his stretch ability and his ability would be crazy good.

I will say I think the knocks on him while fair, are overblown at times, and for some reason, people criticize his weaknesses more than they acknowledge his strengths
He's a really good PnR ball-handler, which is a great thing to be good at in an era where some type pick and roll is present on nearly every half-court offensive play. He's very Chris Paul-esque in the sense that he's a very dynamic PnR ball handler who has a very good mid range game so if the big sags off/the on-ball defender gets caught in the screen, Evans can just rise up and knock down that mid range shot at a very high clip. It will help the fact he's not a great athlete as bigs will be forced to be 1 step closer to him which should give him some blow-by opportunities despite his lack of elite quickness/athleticism
People are also too quick to count out small PGs when it comes to the defensive side of the floor, although they do have that size disadvantage, Evans measured at a 6'5" wingspan at the combine, he has a solid frame too, so despite being only 6'0 tall and 175-180 lbs, he can still be a capable on-ball defender. He will have troubles with guys like Westbrook/Curry/Irving/Wall but you can say thta about basically every PG regardless of size

His size screams backup pg at best. Magic can afford to gamble and pick Giles who can be a star if his health cooperates. Throw frank mason in at 33.

Re: dukes_wild's 2017 Mock Draft
I was way off. Not including Fultz/Ball which were obvious, only picks I got right was Kennard to Detroit which was basically a freebie, Kennard being picked 12th was the most obvious pick of the draft other than Fultz at 1, Ball at 2. I also got Ferguson right at 21
