And Corey Joseph has entered your mock for the first time @ 32nd pick.

Biyombo's hype is tailing a bit, but this is more of a fit issue. Washington already has a big shot blocker in McGee and really needs more of a scorer to go with Wall. Vesely fills that role better. Utah would get Biyombo to pair with Jefferson up front, which is also a good fit.

Joseph's stock is on the rise. He was always good enough to be drafted, I had him out of my mock because I did not think he would stay in the draft. Now he is staying and his stock is rising. A lot of people have him going in the 20s.

Gotcha. Thanks for the insight!

I could see Joseph going lotto, even top ten when it's all said and done, especially in this draft.

Kid has tremendous upside.

I could see Cleveland taking him with the Clippers pick depending on where and who they land with their pick, I could see Charlotte taking him if his stock keeps improving.

I would take him over Brandon Knight and Kemba in a millisecond with no regrets or doubts, I just don't know if I could see that actually materializing, at least over both of them and especially over Knight.

And if Utah takes Biyombo, I don't think it's to pair with Jefferson in the long term, I think they're going to be looking to deal him and/or Millsap, Jefferson isn't a core type piece, especially on a team in a full rebuild and they may trade Millsap as a combination of being able to get major value for him and almost to do him a favor.

I'd be shocked if Joseph went that high. He did nothing this year to show he was worth a lottery pick. Does he have some upside? Sure. But, if he wanted to go that high he should have returned to school.

For every Freshman with upside, there is always a handful of people willing to put them in the lottery, but it rarely actually happens. People said it about Selby, and that won't happen. They also said it about Avery Bradley last year, and that did not happen either. And actually, Bradley is the guy Joseph actually reminds me a lot of. He may wind up somewhere in the 20s, but anything lower than that and you can color me shocked.

Yeah, I don't see the Jazz keeping Jefferson if we draft Biyombo...Or keeping Jefferson in general.

Biyombo seems redundant with Favors from what little I have read and seen, but if Jan Vessely is off the board at 6 and he is still there I'd be ecstatic.

I don't really know anything about Bertans, but do you see him rising come draft day? He seems a lot more interesting than Nikola Mirotic.

It would not shock me if he eventually goes in the lottery. He is a knockdown shooter and the NBA is desperate for shooters, especially if they are 6'10''.

Bertrans has Daryl Morey written all over him, just don't know if it'll be with the #23 or #14 picks.

Again I see you say Avery Bradley.

Why?

They are about as far away in style as possible with the exception of both being able to shoot and defend and playing at Texas.

And Selby should not be in the company of this kid.

Hell, Selby should not be in the company of Bradley.

But I think he'll go late teens.

I don't know much of anything about Bertans except some stuff I read, but I do know what I've seen and that's some pictures.

This dude is rail thin.

Like crackhead fasting for a month skinny.

Like rookie Tayshaun Prince looks like current Iguodala skinny.

Kid will be a walking talking injury, he'll be lucky if someone doesn't snap him in half like a piece of uncooked spaghetti.

He will need to add some bulk, but that is simple enough as he has the frame for it. It is not like he is going to be covering centers in the post.

He is not significantly skinnier than KG, Prince, or Bargnani were when they came into the league, and they have all been relatively healthy.

The Kings organization are one of, maybe two or three teams, that do NOT release ANY information about their potential draft selections this early in the draft phase AT ALL. Ford is full of himself again.

I think these little gems from David Thorpe's chat might be the reason why Ford is projecting Morris this high:

Ryan (Da beach)
Do you see Marcus Morris as a Danny Granger type?

David Thorpe (12:37 PM)
Granger, Durant, LeBron-all tall 3's with skill. He's not as ling as some, not as athletic as others, but he is super skilled and very tough.

Mike (To)
If you were the GM of the raps and had third pick who you taking?

David Thorpe (12:18 PM)
My top 3 college players are Irving, Williams, and Marcus Morris. It may sound self-serving, but I only had Morris here for 5 days. I taught him nothing. I think he can be a star, and will be a 18-22 ppg scorer in this league.

Now it is a well-known fact that Thorpe overrates the hell out of the players who comes to train with him nevertheless these are pretty strong words which (as far as I remember) Thorpe never used for a prospect before.
"I don't step aside, I step up." - Vic Mackey
"My name is my name" - Marlo Stanfield
"If you come at the king, you best not miss" - Omar Little

^^

I know that all too well. When Kevin Martin was with the Kings, Thorpe would try his best to overrate him. Note: Thorpe is Martin's offseason trainer for the last 8-10 years.

Some of Thorpe's praise was justified though but there were some wacky things he said in the past i.e. "Kevin will be an elite, high echelon player in this league as long if he keeps improving".

Thorpe can't be trusted when evaluating his own guys. And I swear his piece on Reggie Jackson today came from some alternative motivation, was basically looking for ways to trash him. Here's how he started it:

See if you can connect these dots: Kentucky, Oklahoma, Texas, Illinois, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Kansas, Connecticut, Memphis, UCLA, Florida, Georgia Tech and Marquette. Know what these schools all have in common? Each school sent at least one player to this year's NBA All-Star Game, and are either known as basketball powers or were powerful when they featured these players.

Only Joe Johnson from Arkansas came from a non-hoops power that did not have a tremendous season. In fact, scanning the top of John Hollinger's PER rankings at season's end, only Kevin Martin (Western Carolina), Steve Nash (Santa Clara), and Paul Millsap (Louisiana Tech) came from colleges with little hoops tradition or astounding success when they were in school (though Nash's team was very good for his last two years).

In other words, rare is the prominent NBA player who came from a small school or a big school that did not achieve great success while he was playing there. What does this mean for Reggie Jackson, who's hoping to be the third player from Boston College in the past 15 years to enter the NBA and carve out a career? Let's explore.

[...]

One thing is for certain, however, and that is that Jackson won't have any kind of college pedigree to see him through. In many ways, he's on his own. Just ask Troy Bell.

Just a joke. Playing in one of the league's toughest conferences is not a sin + There's been 4 BC players in the last 15 years and Arkansas was awesome in the 90s, nice research Thorpe

I've always been pretty high on Marcus Morris, but the day I compare him to LeBron James, please feel free slap some sense into me.

I still don't see Morris as a SF. I think he is skilled and athletic enough to play it in spurts, but he is still a PF in my eyes. With some work, he may be able to transition, but the transition will not be as easy as it was for a guy like Granger who was forced to play PF in college.
