Please take note that I'm new to draft evaluation and NCAA basketball overall (I'm a bandwagon Illinois fan) so most of my information is based off of team needs and website scouting reports. After 1998 I stopped watching basketball (guess why) but at the end of 2006-2007 season I started watching again so my basketball knowledge isn't as seasoned as some of you other posters.


After the first selection they are NOT in order of importance/next-in-line. Some players are listed twice even though I have them already picked in a previous selection (i.e., Wizards - Al-Farouq Aminu - Wesley Johnson, Clippers - Wesley Johnson - Al-Farouq Aminu), this means that those picks are toss-ups.

Daniel Orton is mentioned on a lot of picks because his selection is all dependent on how much of a risk that GM is willing to take on a unproven freshman who's only real talent is being a nice physical specimen with some flashes of potential. My opinion is that he'll start off just like BJ Mullens has.

Pasers: Udoh/Bledsoe (maybe Patterson) - or trade down

No way p's pick Whiteside (too young/not ready). Henry also not likely.

If NJ trades Devin Harris which I doubt they will during the draft -- I don't think they'd trade an all-star because they drafted a hyped-up unproven rookie -- I believe Harris will be traded at the deadline for either a proven player or a young PF prospect, expirings, and/or a pick(s). However Devin Harris might get similar treatment to what Kirk Hinrich received when the Bulls drafted Rose and remain on the team.

The Hassan Whiteside 'secondary' pick is there because Indiana lacks a defensive anchor. Hassan Whiteside averaged 5.4 blocks per game in only 26 minutes, that's amazing albeit in a poor conference. In the end though I'm sure Larry Bird will pick the proven, versatile, maturer player in Ekpe Udoh. I don't think he'll take Eric Bledsoe or Avery Bradley based on their college play; they both were shooting guards for their teams. Patterson is also an option with his smarts, rebounding, and versatile offensive game but Ekpe Udoh is more of a 2-way player who can also play some C. The 2011 draft could have plenty of talented point guards from the lottery to the mid 1st round and Indiana has two 2nd round picks to test one of the senior point guards that will be available in the 2nd.
