dj's 2010 mock draft

Post#1 » by djthesonicsfan » Sun Jun 13, 2010 8:50 pm

1 Wizards: John Wall - easily the best player available

2 76ers: Derrick Favors (Turner) - can’t go wrong with either guy but in the end it’s big > little & the 76ers already have Iguodala for better or worse… will they be able to extort the Nets in a pick swap?

3 Nets: Evan Turner (Favors) - the Nets are delighted & immediate start dreaming of Bosh, Stat or Boozer

4 Wolves: Wes Johnson (Cousins) - while Cousins has the higher ceiling he also has too many red flags for a guy who messed up his draft last year… especially when such a good, safe pick is available in a position of need

5 Kings: DeMarcus Cousins (Monroe) - great pick if this guy really wants to be good

6 Warriors: Greg Monroe (Cousins, Johnson, Henry) - tough call because the Warriors already have a lot of young talent… too bad their young bigs seem to be injured all the time & their coach is crazy

7 Pistons: Cole Aldrich (Cousins, Monroe, Patterson) - when did the bad boys get so soft?

8 Clippers: Al-Farouq Aminu (Babbitt, Patterson, Udoh) - the Clips are starting to accumulate young talent but will it ever matter?

9 Jazz: Luke Babbitt (Monroe, Aldrich) - would’ve preferred to add more size but Babbitt is a good consolation prize for the Jazz

10 Pacers: Ed Davis (Udoh, Patterson, Bradley, Sanders) - best player available & it doesn’t hurt he’s a big

11 Hornets: Xavier Henry (George, Hayward) - nice pick

12 Grizzlies: Avery Bradley (Udoh, Patterson, Sanders, Seraphin) - Gay isn’t going anywhere & neither is Randolph

13 Raptors: Ekpe Udoh (Sanders, Whiteside) - losing Bosh overshadows this great pick

14 Rockets: Hassan Whiteside (Orton, Patterson) - will the first project center with arguably the most upside eventually develop behind Ming?

15 Bucks: Patrick Patterson (Bradley, Sanders, Seraphin) - the Bucks will be delighted if Patterson falls this far

16 Wolves: Paul George (James, Hayward, Pondexter) - Johnson & George will make the Wolves a better team in due course

17 Bulls: James Anderson (James, Hayward, Orton) - Anderson would be a great backup to either James or Johnson

18 Heat: Eric Bledsoe (Orton, Sanders, Alabi) - while Riley desperately needs size in the middle, there’s no big available at #18 ready to help Wade win now & Bledsoe has too much talent/athleticism to pass up

19 Celtics: Dominique Jones (Hayward, Pondexter) - a good long term fit with Rondo in the backcourt

20 Spurs: Damion James (Hayward, Pondexter, Williams) - a Spurs kind of guy, James could play right away especially if Buford is able to dump Jefferson

21 notSonics: Daniel Orton (Whiteside, Alabi) - it wouldn’t be a draft without my guys drafting yet another project big

22 Trailblazers: Kevin Seraphin (Sanders) - too much upside/athleticism for the Blazers to pass up

23 Wolves: Larry Sanders (Lawal, Brackins) - completes a fantastic draft for the Wolves

24 Hawks: Willie Warren (Jones, Anderson, Torrence) - losing Johnson’s going to hurt

25 Grizzlies: Craig Brackins (Sanders, Seraphin, Lawal) - another good addition

26 notSonics: Quincy Pondexter (James, Hayward, Robinson) - excellent athlete who has developed into an excellent team player

27 Nets: Mikhail Torrence (Bledsoe, Johnson) - a nice backup for Harris

28 Grizzlies: Gordon Hayward (Ebanks, Lawal, Robinson, Williams) - the pick most likely to be sold

29 Magic: Armon Johnson (Bledsoe, Torrence) - I don’t think White Chocolate returns

30 Wizards: Solomon Alabi (Lawal, Brackins) - the Wiz need size & Alabi is worth the risk here

31 Nets: Miroslav Raduljica (Alabi, Orton, Brackins, Sanders, Lawal) - I think the reason he blew off his recent workout is that he’s already got a promise

32 notSonics: Stanley Robinson (Bledsoe, Torrence, Johnson) - if the point guards that Presti’s looking for are gone, this pick is likely traded or sold
notSonics 2016
Starters - Trey, Roberson, KD, Ibaka, Adams
Rotation - Payne, Waiters, Green, McGary, Kanter
Bench - Collison, Christon, Brodgon, Huestis
Stash - Johnson, Abrine
Cut - Morrow
Trade - Singler
Draft - Brogdon
FA - Green

I really like most of it, but I don't see the Jazz passing on Udoh IF his workouts went well. I like Babbit, and I personally think that the Jazz don't need to draft a center as badly as people think (boozer can fill in until Memo is back) but I still would say that at this point in time Udoh is a pretty safe bet for them in this scenario.

Avery Bradley sprained his ankle right before his scheduled Memphis workout and had to cancel. I doubt the Grizzlies will get to evaluate him before the draft so I don't think they will take him.

no way Milwaukee could pass on Paul George.. there would be rioting at the Bradley Center.

If George and Ed Davis are off the board and we take Patterson, I will be thrilled.
