Vindicaters Mock 15/06/2011 *First page*
Mock Draft
#1- Cleveland- Kyrie Irving
Gives the Cavaliers a shot in the arm along with a very bright future. Davis will be traded for anything.
#2- Minnesota- Derrick Williams
A team with so little talent just needs to grab the best talent available and that talent is Williams. His scoring ability alone means you have to take him and make him fit.
#3- Utah- Jonas Valanciunas
Utah has the first shock of the draft when they reach for Jonas so that he can join Favours to create one of the longest and most intimidating front courts of the future. I think his buyout will be no problem.
#4- Cleveland- Enes Kanter
Has taken a hit of late due to his defensive liabilities but I think Cleveland will jump at the chance of drafting their 1 (Irving) and 5 (Kanter) of the future so soon after losing Lebron.
#5- Toronto- Brandon Knight
This is the guy I think will end up being the star of this draft. The jump he made as a player in the tournament made me a believer. Toronto will love this kid for years to come.
#6- Washington- Jan Vesely
It will either be Vesly or Leonard taken here. At the moment I am leaning towards Vesely due to his size and length.
#7- Sacramento- Kemba Walker
A lot of people like the idea of pairing Fredette next to Evans but I think Sacremento wont pass on Walker if he falls this far.
#8- Detroit- Marcus Morris
Not the perfect fit for them here but a damn good scorer at the 4 spot. Next to Monroe could form an interesting high/low post game.
#9- Charlotte- Kawhi Leonard
Will lick their lips when they see him this low. Will slide into the vacated Gerald Wallace's small forward position and soon make Bobcats fans forget about Crash.
#10- Milwaukee- Chris Singleton
A huge jump up my board. Everytime I watch anything of this kid I see something else I like. His ability to defend two positions in his rookie season will guarantee him playing time and his potential to guard shooting guards down the line will keep him in the NBA for a long time.
#11- Golden State- Bismak Biyombo
Defensive big man who will complement David Lee well. The impact he can make down one end of the floor is just too much for the Warriors to pass up.
#12- Utah- Klay Thompson
I almost went with Jimmer here for the Jazz but I think Thompsons shooting ability and his potential ability to play the 2 spot in the NBA will make his stock rise. Will be a good foil to Hayward.
#13- Phoenix- Tristan Thompson
Should fit in well next to Gortat on the frontline and his ability to move without the ball will make Nash happy.
#14- Houston- Jimmer Fredette
Very deep team (although not super talented). Fredette will come in and provide more depth to the backcourt. Not the best spot for him but I think his workouts will push his stock up and Houston will be the first team to draft for talent over fit.
#15- Indiana- Alec Burks
A very solid looking shooting guard prospect fits right into a position of need for the Pacers. A perfect fit and Indiana's dream situation.
#16- Philadelphia- Markieff Morris
Will spend a year or two learning from Elton Brand. During that time he will bob up for 15-25 minutes a game for hustle and mismatch purposes.
#17- New York- Donatas Motiejunas
Talk about D'Antonni's wet dream. Not sure how he fits next to Amare and Carmello on the front line (ZERO defence) but I just can't see D'Antonni passing on him.
#18- Washington- Tobias Harris
After taking an unpolished player in Vesely with their higher pick the Wizards decide to play it safe by taking Harris here. A typical tweener who will be a decent 6th/7th/8th man for years to come.
#19- Charlotte- Kenneth Faried
After taking Leonard with their first pick they continue the trend of taking long athletes who are not afraid to throw their bodies around. Faried will be a fan favourite in no time at all.
#20- Minnesota- Iman Shupert
A real sleeper pick here. Everyone raves about Marshoon Brooks at the moment but I think Shumpert will be a much better NBA player. He will be able to play either guard spot (although mostly at the 2 spot) and his defensive skills and physical ability will be a much welcomed addition to the Wolves backcourt.
#21- Portland- Jordan Hamilton
Will happily take the scorer Hamilton here. The kid has some serious flaws in his game to be sure, but his athleticism and scoring mentality will keep him coming off the bench and in the rotatation for spot minutes when needed.
#22- Denver- Nikola Vucevic
I don't like him at all. I think he will be out of the NBA in 3-4 years but he is big and that gets you a shot in the NBA. Denver will take him here to help their big man depth and hope he sticks.
#23- Houston- Tyler Honeycutt
The Houston team is quite deep so they will likely just take a flyer on a guy who needs some development time. Expect to see him in the D-leauge for 80% of his rookie year.
#24- Oklahoma City- Kyle Singler
Comes in to fill the hole left by Jeff Green as a stretch four, backup for Durant type player.
#25- Boston- Marshoon Brooks
Will continue to punch away with their declining roster. Brooks will add depth to the bench. I am not as high on him as some others are.
#26- Dallas- Justin Harper
Need a young backup for Dirk and Harper fits the bill. Ready to come in and contribute right away for 5-15 minutes a game.
#27- New Jersey- Josh Selby
An explosive athlete at the 2 guard who will take some time to adjust but has the potential to be a real sleeper pick. Will either be a top notch player in the NBA or out of it in 3 years.
#28- Chicago- Charles Jenkins
This is the guy who mid-season everybody will be wandering how he slipped this far in the draft. He will fit either next to Rise in the backcourt or backing him up and will become a fan favourite in Chicago due to his gritty play and winning attitude.
#29- San Antonio- Travis Leslie
Will keep plugging away at the championship until Duncan retires. Leslie will come in be able to play some minutes straight away at the SG/SF position. This will allow Manu and Jefferson to get their rest for the post-season.
#30-Chicago- Nikola Mirotec
They take a euro and stash him rather than take on salary at this point. Mirotec might never come over but he is worth a flyer with a second late 1st round pick.

Re: Vindicaters surprise Mock 21/05/2011
I would be highly surprised if Washington passed on Kanter. I mean they've already got their "defensive anchor" in McGee, they would just be duplicating what they already have with Biyombo.

I don't think the Kings would pass up a Kanter/Cousins frontcourt.

Washington is intrested in Kanter. Wall also said he'd like to have him in the team.I'm sure Washington wouldn't pass him up.

I don't see Jimmer falling out of the top 10, let alone dropping to #19.

Kanter is the guy I think will drop when the workouts begin. I don't think he deserves to drop but I can see it happening, thats why I have him falling into the second half of the lottery.
Jan Vesely and Bismak are the guys I think who will climb upwards after the workouts because they will be able to showcase their athletic ability.
Jimmer will not go top ten.

I love it - I want Kenneth Faried to be a Blazer in the worst way....then if Cho can work some Pritchard-type magic and get us Marshown Brooks...I'd be happy, really happy.
Excuse me please, one more drink

Agree. But i don't think, that Jazz will risk to draft Valanciunas, for his buyout

His buyout should not be an issue by draft day. His current team seems content to let him leave for a reasonable price.

The new mock looks solid. While I do not agree with all the picks, the basis for most is solid. I will say though, that in this scenario I would be SHOCKED if Washington passed on Vesely at #6. The talk of Washington being in love with Vesely is legit.

Jonas seems like such a good fit next to Favours too me though that I think the Jazz will take a serious look at the duo.
Vesely to Washington does seem a big possability but I just have a feeling that Leonard will wow them come private workout time.

I think you'd see a trade before you'd see Utah go away from the big three.

#3- Utah- Jonas Valanciunas
Utah has the first shock of the draft when they reach for Jonas so that he can join Favours to create one of the longest and most intimidating frontcourts of the future.
I don't see them doing this with their glaring needs at SG and SF. And wasn't Jefferson's first season pretty promising? Give it another year to see if Jefferson-Favors can work imo.
#5- Toronto- Brandon Knight
This is the guy I think will end up being the star of this draft. The jump he made as a player in the tournament made me a believer. Toronto will love this kid for years to come.
This makes sense. I'm a big Knight guy but I think this is really a reach value wise, but an understandable one
#9- Charlotte- Jan Vesely
Will be thanking their lucky stars that Vesely falls to them here. He will bring excitement back to the Bobcats floor with his explosive forays to the basket. The kid will try to dunk on anyone, and he wont always succeed but it is fun to watch.
I would be absolutely stunned if Jordan picked a European player in the top 10.
Bertans, Selby and Noguiera slipping as far you have them slipping would be a huge mistake by the teams in the teens and early 20s, imo.
Zach Randolph + Kevin Durant >>>>>>> Greg Oden. Bob Whitsitt>>>>>> Kevin Pritchard.

My mistake, although I meant the private workouts so we will have to see.

Yes he doubles up on the talent they already have but the Wolves need as much talent as they can get right now. Beasely will be shopped along with Wesley Johnson for something helping at the centre position.
Not that I disagree with the pick, but shopping a couple of SFs to make room for a PF doesn't make much sense.

I think Williams will be a small forward in the NBA. Johnson does not really need to be shipped but Beasely sure as hell must be if we take Williams (Thats if we want to keep WIlliams)

Re: Vindicaters Mock 25/05/2011 *First page*
I thought Williams could be a SF but I'm starting to think, at minimum, it'll take years for him to make the transition. He measured in as the heaviest SF in DX's records and didn't exactly show a great perimeter game during college. So moving Beasley for Williams would be a backwards step, IMO.
