Ugh, I started the mock the night before and got so tired I put it on draft til then next day, and I've clearly completely overlooked the fact that I hadn't assigned MPJ to a team. Oh well.

I would've had him #6 to Sacramento. Which probably means Carter to Dallas, Mikal still to Bulls, Young still to NY, Miles to Charlotte, and the snowball continues.

Thanks for the pickup. Let's pretend MPJ decided to return to school in this hypothetical :D

Doubt Kings take Carter in that spot as B.B. will play 2 guard and J.J still a question mark. They are pretty high on Giles so thinking they take BPA which is likely one of the Bridges or maybe Porter if he falls.

Definitely. I'd take Porter (as mentioned above, completely forgot to put him in) if I was the Kings. Miles I'm not quite so high on from a BPA perspective so I'd take Carter over him, Mikal is certainly a valid option as well. But Giles, as good as the talk might be from him right now, hasn't played an NBA game and is a big question mark, I wouldn't be using him as a reason to go against drafting another big. Carter could probably play either front-court spot, he's a great player from both a BPA and fit standpoint.

Couple thoughts. If Carter is the best player available over Mikal Bridges we probably take him but our greatest need is SF.

People here haven’t seen Giles play this year but Kings coaches and players have at practice. The comments coming out of those closed practices have been glowing to say the least with one player saying he will be the best player from this draft and another comparing him to Chris Weber. So if you are factoring in fit it’s the Kings offices perception on Giles that matters and they think all star potential.

I’m hearing Porter may go back to school so Kings may well be choosing between Mikal B. and Carter. I think they take BPA but if fit is a factor it’s more Mikal especially if he can shoot 3’s

With all do you respect, do you think they are going to come out and say he's been bad? This is the same team that thought Buddy was the next Steph Curry? I'm not saying Giles is going to be bad, but these probably aren't realistic expectations.

No I think they would be quiet on the topic and players like Bogdanovich and Temple would be quiet. The radio station might hype him but I doubt the players would.

In any case, what you or I think is irrelevant. What Kings management thinks in terms of areas of need is what matters. If you are creating a mock draft it’s a factor to consider if taking need into account.

Still all fluff until we see Giles on the court, imo. There are no certainties, maybe they're embellishing his play in practice, maybe not, if he is killing practice, that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to kill it in games, even if he kills it in games, you don't know whether he's going to stay at a clean bill of health. You draft BPA, imo.

Didn’t I say they draft BPA?? Your explanation took into account positional need and left out Giles. Since I doubt you follow the Kings that closely I thought I would provide some insight as reportedly he is killing it in practice. If you want to ignore it fine.

It's good information, I appreciate you sharing, I had heard it previously and had considered it. I just happen to disagree in my mock that he's worth taking in to account.

54. Brunson
55. Happ
56. Vick
57. McLemore
58. Mykailiuk

60. C.Johnson

Few names added - Okogie, Hachimura re-entered for now, Penava, took Hunter out, boosted Trier, dropped Simons, boosted Alkins, boosted Ponds, had a change of heart and dropped Yurtseven considerably, being the most notable movements.

Still have Ayton/Doncic pretty neck to neck, I'm a bit up and down on Lonnie, feel like I want to have him higher than 18, Evans probably deserves to be a bit higher, Mikal/Carter is very close for me.

That’s my top 7 but I’d change JJ and Bagley as well as Ayton and Doncic.

Question marks for me right now - do I have Duval too low? Brunson too low? Alkins too high? Sexton too low? Smith too high? G.Allen too low?

Pretty happy with the 1st round, it's the 2nd round just feels super fluid right now, but if a crap shoot ordering the names still. Like I don't have Happ, Antetekounmpo, Bitadze, Hervey, Roach, McLemore, Davis, and other names right now, and not necessarily because I wouldn't put them above guys currently on the list, I've just omitted them because I'm not sure exactly where I'd put them right now.

Took Gafford and Konate out, as far as I know they're both going back.

I feel bad for having Wagner in the 40's there but the 2nd round feels so tight right now. Still, at best, I see him in that late mid to late 30's range.

Everyone has their preferences in the 2nd round. I've seen Newman, Graham, Trent Jr, G.Allen, Trier, Metu, Vick, heck basically the majority of the 2nd's on my board considered a 1st by at least someone on this board, and I do see where they're coming from.

Donte's in that 'not sure where/whether to list' at this stage catergory.

I need to re-add Konate as well, apparently he is testing the waters. He's an early 2nd in my books, I like him a lot.

The big ragu is a first round lock whenever he leaves college. No one would have expected him to leave given he's a starter playing 6th man an award he won this yr. I think the odds he returns are high still despite high profile attention from the tournament as it will be his team next season and Jay ain't leaving.
But DiVincenzo may never have a higher value than this summer given his solid season and cluch tournament play.
If he went late lottery I don't think it would surprise anyone, he's proven he can be a high level player

I like him, but I'm not quite that high. I think there's a good chance he could end up in the 20's, I also think he could slip to early 2nd. I just think late lottery is a stretch.

Maybe given the depth in this draft, but he wouldn't be the first champion mvp over pick by standard ranking measurements.
The key thing with him is his defense is solid otherwise the offense and success on a loaded roster would not have him rising so high.

Here's another BB accounting for some minor changes in opinion since my latest mock. Had a bit of fun with it, put Hunter/Smith/Fernando/Hachimura/Wilkes in. Something clear to me is that wings are going to be in high demand and bigs might slip if they don't get picked up reasonably early. Thus the probably blasphemous Fernando falling to 26 (bpa probably causing him to go higher).

1. Suns - Ayton
2. Grizz - Doncic
3. Hawks - JJJ
4. Mavs - Bagley
5. Magic - Young
6. Kings - M.Porter
7. Bulls - Bamba
8. Cavs - Mik. Bridges
9. Knicks - Carter
10. Sixers - Z. Smith
11. Hornets - Mil. Bridges
12. Clippers - Hunter
13. Clippers - Sexton
14. Nuggets - Knox
15. Wizards - R.Williams
16. Suns - SGA
17. Bucks - Knox
18. Hawks - Musa
19. Wolves - Walker Jr.
20. Spurs - J.Porter

I would love if Simmons dropped to Boston, he's not doing any of the summer games and I wonder how much of the combine he'll do.
